Every night, when me and my teddy bear say our prayers, I send this one up, Tim.

I think Trevor was made to be in a band, and I understand why he's chosen the life he has -- but I'd also love to see a solo show! I think it would be incredible!

I've given up hope of ever seeing him in concert again. I still have a sliver of hope for a solo CD, but it is fading as well. I'll settle for movie scores, but I would LOVE a regular CD. I think he's so incredibly brilliant that he needs to do that, ya know what I mean? The thought of him chained up in his studio, doing nothing but movie scores, no matter how good they are, seems rather sad. In other words, he's a rocker and I want some rock music! Ah well, maybe I am just a pessimistic gothic, so I am going to resort to my childhood ways and DOUBLE DARE Rabin to do a solo CD! Yes, you heard it here, I DOUBLE dare him! With cherries on top, even. If he ever does do another solo or group CD, you lot have me to thank.

My guess would be, judging by what he says in interviews, he won't. I am thinking there is not nearly the money in performing as there is in composing, and lets face it, record labels are pretty much just trying to hawk fads to kids, they are not in the business of furthering the art of music. Considering the state of the music industry, and the fact that Mr Rabin is an educated composer, and I am guessing that just one box office smash movie could make a composer a triple gazillionair, without all the B S of being on the road, that he would be kind of nuts to go back to performing. I know, I would sooner be a songwriter that draws royalties without having to leave the house than a performer that lives a difficult life on the road. Also, royalties are their own retirement plan. When you play live, you get paid for the gig, and that is that. With royalties you play it once, and every time it gets any kind of public performance or airplay, you get a paycheck. You don't need a degree in accounting to do the math on that one......

In my dreams, Tim ... in my dreams ... the years pass, soundtracks come and go, but every time I look at video of Rabin with Yes, I'm back in time and hoping for some Rabin future ...

It's not just the soundtracks and the money ... I think when it comes to a diverse and flourishing Yes future, we fans are our own worst enemies ...

I know if I were Rabin, I wouldn't want to try to appease a fan base like us ...

Wasn't there some speculation that the reason 90214 (especially) and Live in LA were released was to see if there was a market for solo Trevor?

no one would enjoy this more than me as I have been in withdrawl for years now..................but I am used to the seizures that accompany the withdrawl of seeing him on stage.
I realisticlly don't see it happening
I could be wrong though

It wouldn't have to be some big Santana-like CD where Trevor is paired up with hot vocalist for top-40 airplay, though I wouldn't mind it. I'd be happy with even just a instrumental CD. Trevor has said he has about half the material for a solo CD; I cannot imagine TR working on sountracks and not having those moments where he says to himself "Hm, that would go really good on my CD". I think he is making good money on the scores, all his favorite music is classical so his composing is something he loves, and he has a world of control on them, and has no problem getting the work, but... he'll be back. In one form or another. We do have the fact that he has never officially said he WON'T so....

We just want another album, Trevor! Pretty please?

There was talk of him doing the scores for Magnification once although it did not materialize.

I could actually see a Cinema 'project CD' with Rabin/Squire/White/Kaye much like the Squire/Sherwood CDs.

I don't expect him to ever tour again. The movie gig is just too good. But I can envision maybe some "one off" performances someday with some of his former band mates. Maybe an SLO sort of deal with the some or all of the Union 8. A couple of shows for posterity with a resulting DVD/CD live set. But mostly what I hope for is another album of his along the lines of Can't Look Away. He wouldn't have to tour for it, if he got a good indie record company, and he can record it while he's doing his movie scores without leaving his basement. Not expecting a commercial success. Just a good, rock solo album for his fans every decade or so.

Another thing I keep expecting is an album by Trevor and Rick. It's something I thought they were both really into. I thought they became fast and furious friends, and are each other's biggest fans. I know Trevor worked on one piece for JTTCOTE 2, but I thought they were going to dual credited album together sometime. It's probably set to be released at the same time as the Jon/Igor album, eh? ;-)

Peace,

Stever

Actually Trevor has performed live several times since he left Yes. He performed in South Africa in 1997 for Nelson Mandela and Prince Charles for the Prince's Trust, performed some guitar licks with Steve Vai, Steve Lukather, and others at the Musician's Institute (in LA I think 2000) and the one I wish _I_ had seen (if I could have picked only one, of course) was at the Hollywood Bowl season opener (in 1999 I think) with George Martin singing Beatles songs!

Hmmm...I wonder if there are any recordings of these floating around out there somewhere...sounds like some great stuff.

I wish he'd form a band, and do something like he did in the 80's and early 90's, namely lead a band to do great, groundbreaking music. I'm with Q., (as always), in really hoping and almost praying he'll come back in some way.

I did check on the Hollywood Bowl show...no luck either.

I agree 100%. I know this comes up from time to time in interviews, and he always says he's considering it...I guess we'll have to wait and see!

I absolutely agree with that
we could even make some fantasy here, who would be in that Rabin band?
I would Say:
Trevor Rabin-Guitar,Vocals
John Wetton-Bass, Vocals
Vinnie Colaiuta-Drums
Derek Sherinian-Keyboards

it would be interesting to hear such a thing :)

I´d also love him to do a new Rabin album? I think he´s still doing this soundtracj thing, isn´t he?
Still I think he´s so talented and he really should give the world some new music:-)
Rick said he´d like to work with him (again?).
Now I´m not sure about the again. What did they do together next to the Union show?

I think trevor will remain doing film scores. I assume now that he is 50yrs old he may not be that interested in touring on the road. He is probably on loads and loads of bucks doing film scores, plus it is away from the music media. He may just want to settle down and be a family man. But i wish he would now ditch the movie work and get back to recording songs for another solo album. My perfect rabin band members would be

Trevor - guitar and lead vocals
Mark mancina - keyboards and vocals
Lou molino lll - drums and percussion
Chris squire - bass and vocals

What a line up for a much wished solo effort

lou molino is ---- hot on drums and mancina is a movie composer so he could add classical elements to the music and squire? well him and rabin together would be out of this world. Got to get Chris to leave yes first though. ha ha ha

i'm waiting for a full score cd by Trev. We have had nothing since The One. Alright, i know Bad Company and Banger Sisters soundtracks contained just 1 Rabin track, but the kangaroo jack and bad boys 2 cd contained nothing and there wasn't nothing released of the soundtrack of the torque movie. Maybe trevor's up and coming war film '' the great raid '' score will release a full score cd. Being a war film i can't exactly seeing it as a various artists soundtrack. I think it will be an orchestral soundtrack if it is released of course.

Trevor is on the Movie train so to speak. He has been working on something of the solo nature for some time now though. It is rather amazing that his minimum for Soundtracks is $1mil! That's minimum folks! It's hard to turn down that kind of dough...........

I would look for something from him in the future though, other than a soundtrack.

If he is getting that kind of jack for a movie then I BET we see him do a album and a small tour like the one he did for Live In LA. He will pay for it out of pocket, ha ha ha!

At first I thought, "Yea! I remember that video!", but now that I think about it, it was actually the video for "Lift Me Up" from Union, which, if I remember correctly, had the band playing in a shadowy, foggy setting and **official Judy alert** had Trevor's shirt quite unbuttoned ;).

I think it was the last video YesWest made for MTV/VH1...anyone know for sure?

I wonder if there were videos for the promotional releases for state of play and walls cd singles? I have seen clips of yes performing walls on the david letterman program. I'm sure he must have said something along the lines of '' here is yes performing their new singe, walls '' or perhaps ''here is a track from their new album'' Can anyone remember this broadcast back in june 1994?

''I wanna love, i wanna give
I wanna find another way to live
Another shout, another cry
When the walls come tumbling down''

I'd like to see that myself. Somebody on this site a while ago said it was a less than great performance. I am suprised I didn't catch this back then since I am a casual Letterman watcher.

LOL!! I'm not sure where this video would be now. I got the Video Compilation VHS tape of Yes that has videos of songs from the 60's all the way up through Big Generator. The tape was released at the same time as the Yes retrospective tape was released, which had interviews of the band during the Union tour, so I thought they might have included the "Lift Me Up"
on the Video Compilation, but it wasn't on there.

Rachel,

Look at one of the Talk videos I sent you. The Letterman performance should be there (if I sent you the video I think I did!!). Actually, the performance was pretty good. The bad thing about it. Paul and the band had to play along. I SO DISLIKE THAT!!!! Unless the band needs them to play, they shouldn't.

I used to have the Letterman performance on tape. My kids may still have it. I had it with the interview Jon and Trevor did on ABC promoting Talk (which also had Peter Max).

Letterman, as the story goes, heard The Calling on the radio when he was driving, stopped and called his producer and told him (or her) to get Yes on the show. I was so looking forward to it, because I thought Talk was just magnificent (and still feel that way). I was sure they'd do The Calling, and I thought Paul and the band might help, but that was OK. So they come on at the end and do Walls! Now I like Walls, but that was such a disappointment. And it was a very mediocre performance, you couldn't even hear Jon, and they just seemed out of their element.

I heard somewhere later that Jon hated doing that show.

But my kids loved the tape. Walls was (and still is) a big favorite of theirs.
