On June 06, 1976 Yes played Wonderous Stories

And on Augest,23, 1975 they played High Vibration which was litteraly the high vibration part of Awaken in all its glory.

What I'm wondering is if these two pieces were clean enough to proform live how much of the other stuff did they all ready have worked out for the GFTO album? Seems like maybe Rick got to much of the credit for his work on GFTO. What do you guys and gals know or think?

For those who haven't heard it yet, I have High Vibration from the 8/23/75 gig on my blog (link in my sig...). <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

It is interesting to ponder what Patrick contributed to the Going for the One material. But I would guess that, as was Yes' habit, these were being worked up while on the road, probably by Jon and/or Steve in hotel rooms like Tales was, and not in sit-down sessions with the band for the sole purpose of writing new songs. That's just a guess, but if Jon or Steve came in with an idea for a new song, the rest of the band cold certainly just "play along" with what ever came to mind. It's when they hit the rehearsal studio that the particulars of the song are worked out and the "cannon" is created that goes on to define the official version of the song.

Just conjecture....

I would agre but with some thing like "high vibrations" I don't think it is just jon or steve museing and playing its really a song that needs structering. And I mean if wonderous stories was that done in 76 with Pat still in the band who knows how hashed through things like Turn of the Century and GFTO the song seems more like something Chris, Alan, and Patrik would have worked up then something Jon, Steve, and Rick would have conjurd up. Just some thoughts....

I don't have the June 6th performance but I have the other one. I think it sounds like it's still a bit of a work in progress. Still, I've always really, really wanted to hear Moraz's contributions to GFTO. I've always really liked his playing a LOT.

I have heard that there was something recorded with Patrick on keys on GFTO, in fact Patrick has had some dispute as to royalties as he has said that he contributed to the music on this album. However the band has said that when Rick joined the band Patrick's keyboard parts were wiped off and that Rick redid the keyboard parts from scratch.

Steve Howe has basically said in recent years that Moraz should have received some writing credits on Going for the One. I would have said "Awaken" should really be credited to Anderson/Howe/Moraz/Wakeman rather than just Anderson/Howe, with Moraz helping to develop the original piece and Wakeman contributing so much to the final recorded version.

Hey Henry,
Did the Chaser suicide squad ever find anything?
From A.M.Y.:
"The Chaser suicide squad is known for seeking to reclaim an earlier version of "Awaken" with Moraz on it"

They had to make do with the live versions known as "High the Vibration", the poor souls.
