I got this video a week ago. Does anyone have this? It's really cool until they get up to the videos from the 90125/Big Generator era. I hate those. Owner of a lonely heart is pretty cool but it's not real Yes. But the cool videos are pretty neat. Even the cheesy Don't Kill The Whale video. I think this video should be in every Yes collection.

I, too, got that video just a week ago. I thought it was OK, even the Rabin era stuff is passable (I don't have any trouble with the material - it's just those godawful 80s videos - ever so cheesy). Rick's in between song patter is quite entertaining as well.
Recently, a friend of mine lent me the video ABWH :"An evening of Yes music plus...". I liked it. They seem to enjoy being on stage. Jon is always the same, a little awkward but really nice to watch and listen to. I like the way he introduces the show backstage and starts singing among the audience. Good Yes music. The only video I knew so far was "9012 live" with Rabin. Another era which has nothing to do but which was good too.
Hehe Madrigal is a cool video! I like it mostly because we get a peek at a covetable piece of jewlery! Yeah!
If it hadn't been for Chris' introduction of the 9012LIVE videos (I think Hold On was one of them) I wouldn't know that Stephen Sodebergh (Traffic, Erin Brockovich, Ocean's 11, Sex Lies and Video) had directed the concert right out of film school. Interesting- the guy works with Yes as a first project then years later becomes the most sought-after director in Hollywood! Makes sense, doesn't it?

After being a fan of the band and never having seen them except for an old copy of Yessongs, finally they released Yesyears and the video compilation. I grabbed both the same day.
I was very excited when I got them and watched the things over and over.
What was up with those 80's videos? I always liked the "Owner" video though.
There was one time when Glen Shorrock of The little river band hosted a tv show and he featured much Yes material in the early 80's. He also featured King crimson over 2 weeks but I was away on tour and missed it. I still think of that!!
I haven't seen Yes on tv here since.
If Yes was a cricket band they'd be on tv all the time in Oz!!!

I like in the madrigal video how Rick Wakeman is dressed up like Mozart. Also I saw my first Yes concert last thursday at the woodlands tx. They were amazing.
What's the name of that guy Rick mentions who builds the finest harpsichords in the world?
Does anyone else think the video for Dont Kill the Whale is perhaps the worst one ever made?
And.... I still think Owner of a Lonely Heart is one of the best videos ever made. Digging in the Dirt by Peter Gabriel being the best.

This is available on DVD - in Japan only at this point though. It will only play on Region 2 NTSC DVD players.
Right now the best bet is to keep your eye out for a release in Brazil - they already have 9012Live, An Evening of... and In the Big Dream. Not great copies, but at least you don't have to worry about the VCR eating it.

I got this video when it came out, in 1991 I think maybe around the Union tour. There are comments from band members that were filmed the same time YesYears was.
I like Wonderous Stories and All Good People (from 9012live) the best. It's a good document of the band from 1977-1987.
I also like the Horn stuff too. They were cooking on those...Jack.

I got this on in 91 also. It came out around the Yesyears/Union Era. I love it, but my only criticism is that they use the 9021Live version of "I've Seen All Good People" after a Steve Howe intoduction. Couldn't they have used the Yessongs version? Don't get me wrong, but it just didn't make sense to have Howe intoduce the song, then use a version that he didn't play on. I think there is also some footage from the Beat Club show they could have used. There is a little clip of it in the Yesyears video.
