Hello everyone.
I'm afraid I have been out of the scene for a while and I don't really know what's available.
Can you advise me on the DVD video release by Yes.
I have seen mentioned Footloose with Bill. I know nothing of this.
These are the releases I'm aware of.
House of blues. Any good, what line up ?
Yesyears. I have this.
ABWH live. I have this.
Yessongs. I once had it.
I have never seen them live so I'd like to get as much as is out there.
All help appreciated.
Dale.

From what I've heard, the Keys To Ascension DVD is awful, although I don't own it.
I was going to buy House Of Yes earlier this week (but I bought a Wakeman DVD instead). I will get it in the near future.
I have YesSymphonic Live (Amsterdam DVD) and it is great. Better than great. "Gates" is amazing. Everything is amazing. Don't ask questions. Just buy it.
I bought Rick's Live In Buenos Aires DVD this week and it's pretty impressive. The only problem being that the singer can't sing.

You will aprreciate all their DVDs etc... Yeah Keys has some bad production but hey, it's still Yes. The Symphonic DVD is the best though, surpassing by far all the others. The coolest is the animation during gates - what the?

Today I went out and bought myself a DVD player after having read the advice given to me here. I got a hold of the Symphonic concert. WOW!!!!
There's no bloody way Allan is ever going to give that gig up!!
Damn it I want that gig!!!
Too many exclamation marks!!!!!!!
I'm lucky you know, I have been without Yes for around 7 years due to an accident. I come back and there is so much out there now. I swear I'm walking around grinning like a maniac. I'm so happy. Their new material is as good as anything they've done and I'd love to see them play that live.
I found all of this and became so inspired again because of this site. I've only been reading it for a few days. After a few more I'm gonna be broke!
Thanks for the advice. I still need to find out about that Bruford video. Nobody here in Sydney knows of it.

Dale - I've just checked on Amazon and the Bill Bruford DVD is titled Bill Bruford's Earthworks Live in NYC. It has a pair of shoes and a drum kit on the cover !

Here is a list of what's available on DVD:
Best of Musikladen
3 songs, but it is cool to see No Opportunity... with the original lineup. Available worldwide.
Yessongs
A classic. Available worldwide. No extras.
QPR 1975 (Part 1 and 2 - sold separately)
Great recording of the time. The first third of the show is a poor mix (a problem with the original masters). Guitar and keyboard levels are a little wierd. It is fine from the acoustic set o the end.
Available in Japan (region 2 NTSC) and Hong Kong (Region 0 NTSC)
Live in Philadelphia 1979
OK recording. Mono because it was originally recorded for a TV broadcast. I suspect this is from the tape that the TV stations used. Not the best quality, and not the whole show. Available worldwide (I believe) the UK version was recently released and I believe it has an interview and commentary not on the US release.
9012Live
OK quality video transfer from Brazil. Yes has the rights and plans to re-release in the US/Europe in the future. You can get it on eBay pretty cheap. May be a pirated copy (it came free with a DVD magazine in Brazil!)
ABHW - In the Big Dream
Brazilian release, includes the last 4 songs that were cut from the Brazilian version of An Evening of... Video transfer, OK quality. May be a pirated copy.
ABWH - An Evening of Yes Music Plus
3 versions available. The first two- a 2 DVD version, sometimes sold separately, a 1 DVD dual layer version, are long out of print and sell on ebay for $150.00+ when they come up at all. The last one is from Brazil, available now, possibly a pirated copy. It is 1 DVD, OK quality and missing the last 4 tracks, which appear on 'In the Big Dream.'
Greatest Video Hits
YesYears: A Retrosepctive
I have the VHS copies of both of these. I have not seen the DVDs. Japanese release, region 2 NTSC only.
Union Tour Live 1991
I have not seen it. Not the whol show, but people have said it is pretty good. Not in the round. Japanese release, region 2 NTSC only.
Keys to Ascension
Available worldwide. Slightly different mix than the CDs. The video is not always in sync with the sound, and there are a lot of annoying 'special effects.' I still enjoy it though, some songs are better than others as fa as the visuals are concerned.
Live at the House of Blues 1999
Available worldwide. Originally broadcast via HDTV, so it is great quality.
YesSymphonic
Available worldwide. Probably the best recorded DVD, sound and video. There are some graphics but you can choose whether you watch them or not. This is a must-have. It also has a second disc with a 30 minute documentary with interviews, and a video of Don't Go.
Japanese DVDs are avaialble here:
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/
Note: I do not know if the QPR is region 2 or 0 at that site. Everything else is region 2 only.
In Brazil - all region 0 NTSC

Oops, forgot to answer your other question:
Bill Bruford - Footloose in NYC.
A DVD from a recent Earthworks tour.
Earthworks is Bill's jazz band, and his current band and probably what he will be doing for some time to come. They have been around since the '80s, but the current configuration (including the DVD) is a traditional Piano, Acoustic Bass, Sax and Drums arrangement. No electronic drums this time. In fact he is playing with a greatly simplified setup.
Great stuff, but not particularly related to Yes (or King Crimson) musically. Standard jazz, or as standard as anything with Bill's involment.
Highly recommended (although I don't have the DVD yet myself).
Also, there is a Steve Howe DVD out, it seems to be an import of some sort, and quiet a few Rick Wakeman ones. I'm not sure when I can get all of that info together, though...

Thanks for going to all the trouble to help. I really can't stop smiling. That little icon is a pretty accurate representation of how I look right now.
I really love the last 2 Earthworks cd's so I will make sure I grab that DVD.
I'll get everything anyway.
Thanks again, Dale

Greetings Dale! and everyone else :D
rhammill described "Footloose" perfectly.
I would advise you to check out the reviews of this dvd on amazon and/or my other thread "Mr. Bruford-Footloose"
great show by Bill :drummer: and co.!
But video is sadly lacking.amazon reviews are quite accurate-
shaky and unstable camera-close ups of Bill's face when he's doing some amazing work on his kit  etc.etc.-
but with a msrp of 14.99 u can't really go wrong!
As a side note,to those interested-
I exchanged my first copy of "Symphonic" because of the "buzzing" sound I and a few others had heard on it (Different threads) for another copy, but found the same exact thing, still buzzing! but some folks do not hear it at all,so ymmv.
CHEERS! jefff
