The recent development of Drama polling made me think that I wanted to start a new thread just to appreciate Trevor Horn or just to express our love for him, without arguing!!

Please post here if you love Drama, Trevor Horn as a performer, and have a desire to hear Drama live.

Let's share our love for Trevor!!

I thought Trev did a great job---he had balls to step into that role. I've heard the boots where his voice was gone--but Drama was a great album. Give him an A for effort

Not very likely to see him live, I should imagine the Drama tour would have put him off stagework for life! I've always admired his production work, the 12" remix of Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood springs immediately to mind, that was a monumental slab of vinyl. His stuff with the Art of Noise was interesting as well. Needless to say, i liked Drama as well, I literally did buy the tee-shirt (and the tour program) when I saw Yes live in 1980. Here's to Trevor!

My husband and I saw the Drama tour.
Trevor really did quite a good job.
I also like Drama very much as well.

Yes, I'll definitely add my support to producer extraordinaire Mr. Horn.
I mean, good God, I even find listening to Dollar records bearable because of the neat production and ABC's 'Lexicon of Love' is something I actually bought.
'Drama' is brilliant!!!
'90125' is brilliant!!!

A few people know this already but Trevor was born and brought up in the same city as I was...Durham City of the famous Cathedral and Castle.

Not only that, we attended the same high school...Durham Johnston Grammar School (1962-1969). He was a year or two above me but we both played in the school orchestra. He of course played Double Bass and I played in the second violins. One of the most enjoyable pieces we played was 'Farandole' by Bizet. Coincidentally Rick often starts his solo shows with that piece.

Trevor used to attend the same youth club as me...Alington House and when he was about 17 started to get a few gigs there. He was in a duo...two acoustics...mainly Dylan/Donovan/protest song stuff...clad totally in denim and with the obligatory Dylan/Donovan/Lennon caps.

The Blue Chips...one of the most popular groups in the entire North East of England region, with a certain wunderkind on drums (Sir Alan) used to play at the club every few weeks.
Ah...happy, happy days indeed.

Trevor is back performing again (he sang well at his tribute show)...with a band called The Producers...they did a gig in London a short while ago. Check out Henry's site.

The history of the music that gets referred to as "progressive rock" would have a major hole in it were it not for the existence of Drama. In addition to being substantial music that elicits an emotional and spiritual response, it filled a real need.

If Yes with Trevor and Geoff had not done Drama, somebody would have had to do something. As the 1980s dawned, prog had left something unsaid. Drama screamed it out in a loud, powerful voice. With killer drum sound to boot.

Here's to Trevor! :beerchugr:

Not just for Drama, but for brilliant production work on 90125 and Big Generator as well. Those albums would NEVER have sounded the same without him.

Forgive my ignorance, I know little or nothing about Trevor, other than his contribution to YES.
Drama is definitely in my top 20 YES albums.....
Oh but seriously, I loooove DRAMA. Technically brilliant. Innovative. Powerful...
I find it so easy to be grateful for this masterpiece.
Of course I'm aware that many on this site don't get the Drama attraction, but that's probably because they are too busy whining about why Jon Anderson isn't there.
YES looked on the surface of things to be 'down and out for the count' when Jon and Rick left...And then we get Trevor....Now that's turning adversity into victory!
I don't care what all the 'knockers' say. Trevor's vocals on Drama are perfect!

I love Drama. I put it 7th best in the YES canon after the classic 6 in a row from The Yes Abum ~ Going For The One. Incredible Bass playing by Chris and some real good guitar work from Steve. Trevor's vocals on the album are just fine by me. On the Drama weeds that I've heard Trevor was fine on the Drama material but some of the classic Yes stuff was a bit cringeworthy.

i loved most of Trevor Horn's eighties production work. I guess he sort of ran those Fairlight syth sounds to the ground with Art of Noise, ABC and 90125 but hey that was the early eighties for ya. i also thought the couple of tracks he produced on Paul McCartney's Flowers in the Dirt album were pretty good as well. oh and if i remember correctly, Trevor also produced Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells II. from what i remember, Trevor cleaned up/smoothed out Mike's sound a bit on that album.

I love the Drama album...

At the time I first heard it, I was hearing (more or less) all the pre-90125 Yes albums at the same time. Maybe because of that, I just enjoyed it for what it was--another Yes album. Although in hindsight it's almost inevitable to make comparisons!!!!

Trevor Horn's production hands are all over Seal's albums....I very highly recommend his third album "Human Being" released in 1998. Really, it's one of the best records of the Nineties, and it's a shame so few people have heard it.

I think Trevor Horn added positively to the Yes sound.

His vocals in concert are creditable given the complexity of the songs - not to mention Jon 'owns' the Yes sound.

Drama is in my top 5 Yes albums and Trevor's contribution to it should never be underrated. It took guts to stand up there in front of thousands of Yes fans when most would much rather have heard Jon.

I absolutely LOVE this album and my only regret is never having heard it done live. :crybby:

Drama is one YES album I couldn't live without, definitely a YES classic in my list. In fact, it's one of the VERY few (five) I've bought more than once. Do I ever wonder how it would sound or wish that Jon had been there? No, never. I take it the way it is and never fantasise about changing a single ingredient, even if Wakey is my favourite muso in YES or anywhere and he's not there.

Trevor Horn is key in Drama. His style is perfect for the harder edge of the songs. He added his own character but didn't take away any of the YES spirit. As a producer, well, I don't care. All I know is that he is the YES singer in Drama and he did one helluva job there.

As for Steve, please... he's the metal in YES. Drama is probably the first ever prog-metal album... maybe? And it's all thanks to Steve.

Ever since Drama came out, I have been a big fan and consider this album among my top 5 Yes records. Maybe it may not sound as progressive as CTE or Relayer, but the musicianship is truly brilliant. All 5 members were at the top of their game then and sound very inspired, it shows on their playing. I was saddended that shortly after that tour, the mood among Yes members was so low that they went seperate ways...if it weren't for Squite and White who did "Run with the Fox" Yes would be long dead by now.
But I would like to underline that Trevor really made his mark as a producer and not that much as a musician in the band, but this only goes to show how talented he is. I have the Age of Plastic CD and highly reccomend it to all Drama fans.

Thank you everyone who posted here to express your love for Trevor!! I feel 'safe' enough to say the things I want now! What I want are:

1. I want Trevor to be on stage more often

2. I want The Producers to feature Trevor's lead vocals more often (Trevor did lead vocals on 'Video killed the Radio Star' and 'Space Oddity', and Rabin's part in 'Owner of a Lonely Heart' in the last gig)

3. I want The Producers to perform songs from Drama (The Producers perform songs they have recorded, produced, and whatever they like as well as their new original material).

In addition to the above,

4. I want ASIA to perform Drama songs (two members are already there!)

I can also think more possibilities...I am lucky living in London so that I can see The Producers live, but I could imagine a lot of people want The Producers to go on tour.

Please keep posting and express your wishes. Who knows, our voices might be heard!!

The Producers are:
Trevor Horn, Stephen Lipson, Lol Creme, Chris Braide, Ash Soan

Is the Prince's Trust Trevor Horn tribute Concert available commercially on DVD? I watched that show on HDNet about a year ago and have never seen it at a local music store or online.

It was great to see a Yes band formed by Howe, Rabin, Squire, Downes and White with Trevor Horn watching from the wings. Seal, Buggles and more also perform wonderfully.

It was a truly inspiring event worth adding to any Yesfan's DVD collection.

It was another fantastic show!
Trevor sang more tunes than the last one, including some new Producers' original tracks. The band played even tighter than before, no technical glitches this time...near perfect performance!
They did OOALH again (Trevor asked 'are there any members of Yes here?' It seemed to be none of them this time...last time Chris was present and Virgil was there too)

Yes, I was there. Another great show: I really like how these are low-key shows that the band are just doing for fun. Horn joked about they have to pay to do these shows! He was in a good mood, also jokingly complaining how Squire had berated him for playing a wrong note during "OoaLH" last time.

There were two songs being debuted: "Man on the Moon" (with Braide on lead vocals) didn't impress me, but I enjoyed "Your Life" (with Horn on lead vocals), although it felt as though the arrangement could still do with more work. Otherwise, a fantastic performance of "Space Oddity" and a great "Slave to the Rhythm" (with guest vocalist Olivia Safe).

I was one of the lucky ones that caught a Drama show at Madison Square Garden in ‘80. Having read about the troubles Trevor had during the UK leg of the tour really shocked me. Based upon the audience’s response from were I was sitting it seemed impossible that could ever happen.

Drama will always be held in high regard in my opinion.

Thanks for posting the links Yumi :D

I assume "not" the OYE cover..? ;-)

We once got an accapella version of that in Edinburgh from Mr Squire.

There were two songs being debuted: "Man on the Moon" (with Braide on lead vocals) didn't impress me,
