Occasionally Yesfans members post or PM in an offensive manner contrary to Yesfans site terms as outlined from the link at the bottom of the page. This is often brought to the attention of moderators through the reports of other members. The moderators usually handle such reports by making strategic posts to ask people to cool down and PMs to those involved to point out the concerns of the site management sometimes with requests to delete the offending posts or sections of posts.
The vast majority of time this is sufficient to resolve the issue but occasionally the member involved doesn't take the hint and offends repeatedly. Ultimately such repeat offenders can be banned from the site but we are very reluctant to do that so we have decided to implement a temporary suspension policy. Here is the policy outline.
Step 1: A member's posts and/or PMs have been reported to the Moderator team, or observed by a Moderator, to be offensive. The moderator(s) will warn the member by PM and where appropriate ask for the offending post to be modified or deleted. Usually this will be accompanied by a moderator post in the relevant thread to cool down. The Moderator team will keep tabs of the situation.
Step 2: If the Member doesn't heed the warning, a Moderator will warn the member that further offensive behaviour will result in a one week restricted suspension. This type of suspension allows the Yesfans member to post only in the Yes forum.
Step 3: If the Member still doesn't heed the warning - the moderator team will apply the restricted suspension for 1 week.
Step 4: If the Member, either while on restricted suspension or shortly after it has been lifted, continues to post or PM offensively a full suspension from Yesfans for one month will occur.
Step 5: Following completion of the one month suspension, if the Member continues to post or PM offensively, a longer term ban of at least 6 months will be enforced.
There will be times when a member might have got to Stage 2, 3 or 4 of this policy and then heeded the advice of the Moderator team only for another issue to arise many months later. In this circumstance, the warning system will start afresh.
All Spammers are automatically the subject of permanent ban.
