Good God, man! Doesn't everyone who wants a copy of UNION have one by now? With "Give and Take", even? Lord.

Does 'Yes are on hiatus' mean everyone can rip them off!!!!!!!!

I think the only rerelease of Union I would buy would be a completely remixed version with Steve Howe's actual guitar tracks instead of Jimi Haun and more Wakeman. I don't even know if such a product is possible.

Just bought something called Yes Reunion.

It is Union minus the new age type songs. Just the Heavier songs. It does not seem to be as loud/punchy as the original..

If you compare some of the shared guitar bits on Turbulence to some of the rerecorded parts on Union then it is obvious that Jimi Haun used guitar parts originally written and recorded by Steve Howe as a guide on significant portions of the album. It is also obvious from reading interviews with both Howe and Wakeman that they were surprised by the sound of the final product because parts they thought they had recorded and completed, more than just scratch tracks, were not present. They were replaced in the final mix by the session players. The question then becomes whether or not those tapes still exist because they obviously did exist at one point in time.

Obviously, such a project as remixing Union from the bottom up is never going to happen. However, these are the only conditions that would warrant my actually repurchasing the album. I would get more use out of the copy I have if I used it as a coaster. If the tapes exist then it would be, at least, theoretically possible to fix the album.

I dunno.....if we can believe what Jonathan Elias has said about all the Union sessions, I'm not so sure I want to hear the original parts...

Probably best to just leave it as it is, and listen to it if you wanna, and don't if you don't wanna.

I know there's nothing or at least not a whole lot wrong with Howe's playing on Turbulence and that was recorded around the same time so that casts a lot of doubt on the claims that Howe was somehow too stoned to play or whatever. I also figure that Jonathan Elias has never been involved with any music of consequence whatsoever so I would absolutely trust Howe's musical judgement (and even Wakeman's to a lesser extent) over that of Elias. Union would probably still be a mediocre album even with Howe and Wakeman, but at least if you mixed those guys back in then it would be an honest to Betsy Yes record instead of a Jon Anderson+session muscians record with a Yes logo and Dean artwork.

Anyone for "Union Naked" with a bonus "fly on the wall" disc?

Me!

If all the original Howe and Wakeman tracks actually exist, I'd love a rerelease of Union. As long as it was taken seriously, with as much time put it to make it sound good as you would take with a normal release. I wouldn't want just some raw, rough mix job.

Although, who am I kidding? I'd buy a rough version if it was released! :D

I like a lot of Union as it is, but it would certainly be interesting to hear all the Howe/Wakeman (mainly Howe for me) tracks that were replaced.

Wakeman sent in his performance via MIDI files, not audio, and he regrets it. So no real feel of his can be present.

Is this another shameless marketing plug? How many repackaged Yes discs are we going to have to buy?

frankly, I think every one should hand over their copies to be burned and never to be heard again!
