Hello all. I've been a pretty big Yesfan for the past few years. I find the best way to experience any music, but especially Yesmusic, is by headphones. Not only can I pay attention to every detail and nuance, but it gives the music a more intimate and warm feel. I absolutely adore Close To The Edge, I own it both on Vinyl and CD(the 2003 Rhino Remaster to be precise). To me, it is simply the ultimate album, no other way to say it. My only problem is that listening to the Rhino Remaster through headphones is kind of frustrating. Most of the album sounds great, but those few opening chords of music(after the "nature sounds" intro) I can't hear all the guitar parts. There are supposed to be( I believe) at least 3 different guitar parts(over dubbed) playing at the same time, and I can only hear 2 of them, with the 3rd(the highest) one being (almost)inaudible.
The bass is also a little overbearing during that same part. I try to pull back the equalizers slightly, to compensate, but not to much because then I'd sacrifice the overall sound quality. Listening to it through stereo, everything sounds pretty much perfect, but like I said, I just don't get that same intimate warm feeling as I do when I'm hearing it through headphones.
Were really only talking about a few seconds of music here, and it's really not that big of a deal, but it's kind of frustrating, as I feel it's an important part of the song.
Does anybody else experience the same problem?. I can certainly live with it, but I'm wondering if a better pair of headphones would fix the problem?.
