During "Everydays", Peter Banks quotes one of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos (at least I think so). Does anyone know which one?

That's a neat observation. I'm sorry I don't no Bach well enough to have made the connection.

Well, I'm not even sure if it's Bach. The quote in question is around 4:15 min...

I think it's called "Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring"
Hi,
Peter Banks also quotes Bach in his solo on 'I See You' from the first album.
The piece quoted comes from the First Book of the Preludes and Fugues, The Well-Tempered Clavier, and is the opening of the C minor fugue from that work.
Hadn't spotted the quotation in 'Everydays'. I'll have to give that a run-through......
All best wishes,

Oh, and that escaped my attention. Thanks for pointing it out...

Your welcome :) This piece always played after every service at a church I used to go to a long time ago. Back then I hadn't even heard the first 2 Yes albums. It's so beautiful so I asked the choir director, and he told me the title. Generally I don't know my way around classical music, it's just a coincidence that I knew that one :winknudge

...also quoted (well, more than quoted, really) in the early 70's by Apollo 100 as "Joy". I think I still have the 45!

Excellent site - and I wonder if the author is a Yes fan. There are pieces associated with Jon, Steve, Chris, and Rick on there. (Anyone catch them?)

I have the both Well-Tempered Clavier books and love playing most but so many are really hard!
Played the Jesu, Thou Joy... at a friend's wedding early 70s.
There are a lot of Bach quotes in pop and prog, even Randy Bachman, Beatles and of course Tull use Bach lines for inspiration and melodies.

If you find 'the 48' a bit tough, try the 'Two-Part Inventions'. They are less demanding on the fingers!
All best wishes,

Covered all those in university in the 70s; that's why I bought the Urtext 48. Eeek.
