I'd be grateful for anyone who can fill me in on some things I've been wondering about:

1. How tall is Chris?
2. Was his ex-wife Nikki a musician? I thought I read somewhere that she was a bass player in a band.
3. Has Chris ever publicly discussed the XYZ project that he and Alan White worked on with Jimmy Page back in 1981? I think this is a fascinating part of rock history; too bad the band didn't come together.

I've heard through the grapevine that Chris is about 6'4".

Nikki played/plays in the band Esquire.

Maybe someone else can shed some additional light for you . . .

I'm not the best to ask about this, there are some people on site who know Chris well and would be able to fill in on this. However second question his ex-wife Nikki had a band called Esquire, which she sang vocals unsure what instrument she played, Chris would sometimes play backing bass. If you pick up one of the 'Yes family and friends' CDs you will find a track or two of Esquire on there.
I think Chris has talked about XYZ on a radio interview before but afraid I don't know the details.

Steve's taller than people think, 5 ft 11 , Alan 5ft 9 ish , Rick easily 6ft 4 /5. Chris 6ft 2 tops

As for Chris's height, I stood next to him outside of his hotel in Pittsburgh on the Masterworks tour (he was waiting for Paul Silveria to see about "going out", but he ended up staying in) and he might have a inch on me and I stand a mere 5' 8" . I also directed him to the loo the next night in Cleveland at the Ritz Carlton. I was almost speechless. He just looks tall next to little Jon and Steve's slight too. Rick is the biggie in the band for sure.

RowanMorrison

That must be his secret to looking incredibly tall then: make sure you're standing next to petite folk. I'm a schlumpy 5'6", so I could use some of that height illusion. :)

One more silly question then I'll stop: I've heard that Chris lives in America now, but where -- New York or California?

WendyPoems

Chris has a house in California, but I think recently has
spent time in London. Others can correct me if I'm wrong.

If 'lit' means drugs then I have never ever (apart from alcohol) partook of anything....even though I was 17 in 1967...and that was some Summer wasn't it Peggs???
San Fran!..
We had lots of Hippyish goings on here in the UK...after all..sod Scott McKenzie!...we had Sgt. Peppers!! and Disraeli Gears and Are You Experienced and Tommy...can you hear me???
Oh...in answer to your question...yes...a little inebriated....but, I have to admit...extremely intoxicated by the blonde Aussie one...but, hell, which full blooded male isn't???

I thought Chris was taller than 6'2 simply because Trevor Rabin said he's just shy of 6'4 and Chris and him are about the same height so I just assumed......

OK, based on comparitive heights with the other guys and my personal observations during the tours I saw him, plus some tuition vidoes my sons have of him, I would say he is ....too bloody good to be true!!!...what the hell can he not do???..and now he is earning millions (yes, millions!!..a member of the band told me)...with Bruckheimer...
I would just love to see what he is coming up with these days with Jonny boy...haven't they had a couple of rendezvous recently??
Oh, and Ricky has ALWAYS wanted to work with him.

Whoops-a-daisy...off thread again..CHRIS!!...love his style...those embroidered frock coats are so cool. He is the dog's b-llocks!! and, just in passing, he plays a bit of a mean bass..(jeez, the bloody understatement of the millenium!!!)

I was face to face with Steve. He's definitely more than 1 inch taller than I. I would have guessed about 5"10".

Okay, Rick talked about this on his radio show and I met the whole band backstage two years ago:

1. Rick= ~6'5" or 6'6", age can take an inch. Measure Rick and knock off 1" for Chris.
2. I'm 5'9" and all the other three Yesman are significantly shorter than me,
5'5"-5' 7" at most. Therefore this:

'Originally Posted by maxwell from the "How Tall" thread
"Steve's taller than people think, 5 ft 11 , Alan 5ft 9 ish" ' is impossible.

But Rick's cup size has increased markedly over the decades.

I am 6' 4" and I am definitely taller than Chris - have the photos to prove it!
6'2" sounds about right - he is definitely over 6 foot.
as for Rick - he is about my height

Looks like very well informed and knowledgeable people are coming round to my estimations!
Alan is quite a bit taller than Steve.
Jeez....don't we just love our trivia...fancy talking about this when set against the majesty of their music. Does it matter? ....no... but it sure is fun and is an indication of our obsession with them all.
I notice Jonny boy seems to be absent from this 'little' dialogue!!!!! BUT, he does seem to have large, attractive hands...
Yes Kathy the Bassmeister's hands and fingers are bloody huge!!

I can *reach* ten keys, and could play nine keys, except for there isn't any reason to play nine keys. I'd bet Wakeman can reach 13 keys and play 11. Know what I mean?

Oy, thanks for clearing that up for me too...I'd seen HRB used in another thread, but I guess I was either confused or afraid to ask. I don't know why I didn't.

Yes indeed, in name Chris may be just a Squire, but in truth he should be at least a Knight... hehehe (Hell, they knighted my dad's dear Mick Jagger, why can't they knight Chris too?)

:lmao: Another how tall is Chris thinigy.... Just kidding Rowan! Welcome to Yesfans....

Chris is 6'3" guaranteed.. I've had ample time standing next to him and he's clearly 2 incches taller than me... He's a huge man though.. Jeez his frigan hands just engulf mine... Also a dear soul, who I care for deeply! And often gets a raw deal in certain fan circles.... I've personally seen him perform many selfless acts of kindness. As for fan photos.. It was said in another thead that they tend to crouch a bit for fan photos.. This is the case.... He does now reside in London and has since last year. He's grown accustomed to it and I think it's likely that they'll be staying in London for sometime.

As for Nikki, yes she was/is a musician although I don't think she's been doig much these days. She lives on the Isle of Ibiza Spain currently.

There's bit of public comment about XYZ, it moved pretty far along. But alas Plant never showed. Chris is still good friends with Jimmy though.... Wouldn't it be interesting if he got Jimmy to play on a track or 2 from his in progress solo allbum? I think it would be great! There are more tapes of the sessions then what's out there in the trading circles now..... Boy would I like to get my hands on those ;)

Oh and Trev is about 6'1-2" or so.. Slightly taller than I.... Yet another great guy! Busy as a Bee right now wrapping all these movie sountracks....

Oh my gawd, that would be absolutely positively awesome!!!!! But awesome can hardly describe it. I am beyond words. :yikes: I can hardly imagine the convergence of greatness that could result from that pairing. And Jimmy knows what it's like to work with outstanding bass players--in fact JPJ was the reason I became a fan of bassists in the first place.

My great rock dream is to have Chris play with David Gilmour, but heck, Jimmy Page would be just as great. The hammer of the gods and the thunder of the gods, for once as one...

I'd agree with Smatt..the man has to be 6'3. But he SEEMS bigger. Just look at his hands. Good Gawd...

Nikki had her own band, Esquire for a couple of albums. Chris produced the first one (I think) and sang backiong vocals.

Yesyears is where XYZ is discussed at some length by Christopher....I had a WONDERFUL conversation with him about this era in his life when he was in SF for the Spring Syn show.

Chris has a solo album in progress? That's great news. You know, Pagey has been working on a "solo with guests" record for awhile now as well. His official web site even had a "Who should Jimmy work with?" forum where people could submit suggestions. I said Jack White and/or Pete Townsend. But I digress....
