Lyric Question on Endless Dream

During the `ambient' middle of section b before Jon chimes in with `Coming through the light!' and Alan goes nuts on his kit, you can hear Trevor's distorted voice in the background yelling something. Does anyone know what he says here? The best guess I can make is `who'll protect us?' but that's just a hunch. Any insight?

The place we're 'Talk'-ing about is at the 7:20 mark of track 8, The Endless Dream. It sounds to me like Trev is singing "coming in through the darkness", to which Jon answers " Coming in through the light" . That's just what I heard; I'd sure like to hear a definitive authority on this piece of trivia!

Darn I can't remember where, but I copied and pasted an interview Trevor did to my word pad and saved it. This was many years ago. I should have saved the link, but like many links, it may not even be there any more, but this is what was said.....

TIM : Going back to "Endless Dream" for a minute - there is a part in that song after the "dreamy" middle section, where you say something before Jon says "Coming through the light." What do you say there?

TREVOR : I can't remember the word, but it means when the natural human condition merges with computers or technology.

So Trevor doesn't even know. At least according to this interview.



On a side note, one of my favorite parts of this interview was when they were talking about skydiving.


TIM : I went tandem skydiving about two weeks ago. It was awesome! It was the most incredible experience, and we listened to "Endless Dream" on the way up.

TREVOR : Oh really? I've done that twice. It was the most exhilarating experience of my life. There was a sense of disbelief just before I jumped , looking out and thinking, "I'm jumping out of an airplane!"

Wow, the vastness of this forum!!! I was about to start a thread about this very topic because I've been listening to Talk alot lately! But I'm glad I checked, because you saved me the typing. "Coming through darkness" is exactly what I thought, but according to others here, TR himself doesn't remember what he said! Sometimes I've listened and heard "coming through darkness", other times I've heard nothing definite. I guess it's another fine addition to the "indecipherable Yes lyrics collection"?

What I've heard over the years is "Coming in through darkness", although Trev is on record as not remembering what he said! The problem with figuring this out is you have to have the sound really loud to make it out, and you've got literally a couple tenths of a second to turn the volume down before Jon blows out your eardrums!

I think ya'll wrong on this one it sounds to me like (TR)T, T talk......Talk..........................(JA)coming in through the light.....BAM!!!!(music begins)......... The album is called TALK and it is in the pre-quil to Talk ...Talk....Listening....ever to reach out !!!

OK, since that really hasn't been resolved, how about this? What do they say in "It Can Happen" just as the kind of interlude and guitar solo begins.

It sounds like to me "Now, now boy, you had much better....???" but even that's probably very wrong.
