........the master tapes of the concerts that constituted the recordings that were used for Yessongs?
Why wasn't Yessongs included in the Rhino re-iisues?

Excellent question, Martin; I have wondered the same thing.
The Gastwirt remaster of Yessongs never impressed me that much, especially after I heard what Rhino was able to do with CTTE, Tales and Relayer...

I think I remember reading that the Yessongs recordings were low track count and that prevents being able to improve them much beyond what we have.

What does that mean to those of us who can't keep buying needles and cartridges and turntables to hear the vinyl records?
-at least get them onto CD as is so we can toss one into a stereo and listen to them, Rhinoboys!

This has been answered... Ray is correct.. Basically, the masters suck and they don't think they can do a substantially better remaster....

If y'all have the original 2-CD 'fatboy' from Atlantic, you've got the best sounding CD of Yessongs out there. Just turn up the bass and treble a bit and VOILA!! I wasn't impressed with the Gastwirt 94 remaster either...
And if you're a vinyl junkie...the Japanese LP smokes!

Why wasn't Yessongs included in the Rhino re-iisues?With all respect, is this the right question?
I don't think the cd and dvd should live as separate entities. There is justification for remastering audio AND video to produce the definitive version of Yessongs. Particularly as it is said that the Joe Gastwirt cannot be improved upon. We do need the rest of the live footage tho'.
However such as exercise is unlikely to happen as some Yes(>pthoo<)fans will just wait to download it for free as quality just doesn't seem to be an issue when they'd rather ensure no money is taken from their pockets!

Hey, Matt....thanks! That'll be sure to p*ss people off, won't it? :lmao:
(actually, I'd pray that it'd be a helpful resource rather than a pain in the you-know-what...). Coming soon to a thread near us? time will tell....:headset:
Speaking of the Yessongs movie, I seriously wonder if anyone can improve on the Yessongs video. Does anyone know if those tapes are MIA? I always assumed they were.
