When I went to see ABWH on two successive nights at the Wembley Arena (Oct '89 - boy, was it really that long ago? It seemed as if it was yesterday!), it marked the first time I had ever seen any formation of Yes members in concert. I first got into the band in '83 and never thought I'd see them live. Yet now I've seen seven official Yes gigs and the two ABWH efforts. I can recall specifically the second ABWH show which I went to with a friend and his then fiancee. My friend thought I'd gone seriously deranged at the opening of Close to the Edge. Because when the intro to this awesome epic begn to play I went crazy. I remember saying the same thing over and over again. 'They're going to play Close to the Edge! Oh, my God. I don't believe it!' My mate had never heard this track, but afterwards he was telling me how wonderful he thought it was, especially after I played the studio version to him the next day. 'An evening of Yes music plus' is a cd I put on earlier today and as with every other time I put it on I can recall so many different things about those two concerts: Jon's entry through the crowd, Rick's lightning fast keyboard work during his solo, Steve's articulate and precise guitar work and Bill's electronic drums and rhythmical mastery. And then there are all of those wonderous songs they played. What experiences to look back on with a happy heart!

Oh yes---and the video is one of the best Yes offerings too.
I have often wondered if any of our site yes fans are on that ABWH vid.
Come on you Americans, please own up now!!
Cheers.

I regret missing the ABWH, UNION and YESsymphonic tours more than any others. What was I thinking?????
Well, the Symphonic tour caught me in a bad financial time. The ABWH and UNION tours? I blame my not seeing those two on COCAINE DECISIONS. Feels so good to not be addicted to anything :) :) :) :)
I love the EVENING OF YES MUSIC PLUS set.
A friend of mine has just lent me the video of ABWH "An evening of Yes Music Plus". I have watched the first 20 minutes and I like it. It's fun to see Jon introducing the show and entering the venue in the middle of the audience singing while honouring his fans of a hand shake and waves. The solos at the beginning are great. I'm looking forward to watch the reste of the video...
i was reading the liner notes on this cd and noticed what must be an error. the writer noted that this lineup was considered 4/5 of the definitive yes (don't disagree) and was the first time they had played together since touring to support Tormato. did bruford fill in for White somewhere on that tour or is this just a gross oversimplification (howe, wakeman, anderson last played together on that tour)??? inquiring minds want to know.

I've noticed that same error. I think it was just a case of the writer not knowing what he was talking about. Just doing his job I suppose.
you've got a point ... with so many lineup changes it's hard to keep things straight -- unless you're a fanatical yeshead! appreciate the response.
