Saw this on the Yahoo News page today.

On May 13, Apple started tracking the progress of a new CD from Jon Anderson, co-founder and lead singer from the Rock group Yes. Today, Apple posted its first update on the progress of Jon's solo effort.

Jon is recording the CD in his home studio. He is playing all of the instruments himself and using Mac equipment to make it all happen. In his studio are a dual 1GHz Power Mac G4 with a SuperDrive, an Apple Cinema Display and equipment from Digidesign, including Pro Tools|HD 2, the new 192 I/O, Digidesign1/4s 24-Bit/192 KHz multi-channel audio interface and a DigiDrive FireWire 80GB hard drive.

Apple has posted a schematic of Anderson's equipment setup on their Web site if you're interested ! in checking it out.

The solo project, originally named "Songs from the Spirit Game," has been renamed to "The Big If." Anderson explains, "'The Big If' is a title of one of the new songs. It's a song about how I wish I could change the unpleasant things in this world. Given my intent with this project, 'The Big If' seemed like the right title."

In addition to Anderson's equipment schematic, Apple has also posted several QuickTime movies of his new songs and how he is using visual effects on the new CD.

A QuickTime clip of a new song "Tony and Me" is also available. The song is about Jon and his brother Tony, during their days with The Warriors, a band in which they both played during their youth.

I've been tracking this since it went online a little while ago. It's excellent. And great press for Jon and the band.

And it's the Top Story on Technology news. At least Jon can still make headlines.

I subtracted the Quicktime movies from the Apple site.
Converted them to audio.
So if Jon puts more and more of them online, as he says he will, the fans can put their own rough mixes bootleg together.

At the moment the following are available:

Summerlight, the very rough version.
Summerlight, the advanced video version.
Those Days, video version.
White Buffalo, video version.
Tony and Me, video of Jon in studio.

Jon has also been working on his holiday, with his laptop, so we should expect more from him in the future.

So Jon, keep up the voodoo that you do sттттт wel, and make the fans happy!

Greetings to all of you outthere!
