View Full Version : Reason for downtime and new site software!

Ok folks. Sorry that the site has been down. Lets go back to last week. I go on vaca last fri. Last time I log in here is sat, all ok then! I come on last night and see we are down. It turns out that Yesworld is down. That caused us issue when we have the YESWORLD bars across the top of this site and it is set up in frames to work with that site. So when they puke, we puke with them. So I did not know it was going on till I logged on last night. Of course Yesworld a word about what was up and is still up.
So last night I decide since we are down this is a good time to UPGRADE to the latest vbulletin (VB) software that runs this site. So I start that today and I run into all kinds of issues with the install process. Erros left ad right. Turns out that the version of software that we ran on was so old that they did not support it and when they wrote the upgrade script they missed some things in it that needed to be there for the upgrade to work from our old ass 3.0.3 version we had to the new 3.6 version. Weeeeell that took a few hours to get figured out. So now we are up. I am in the middle of tweaking this and that that needs to be done.
This is a new VB as stated that I have yet to still get used too. There are several things I can adjust so the forums could look odd and or work somewhat diff in layout and form until you get used to it.

Since I always seem to want more:

The "current members online" and the birthday announcements are now at the bottom of the home page (with skin "7"). Does the new software allow it to be back at the top?

thanks.

I'm amazed at the speed Tim. Will it always be like this??

I'll say that I generally don't visit as often these days because the site's gotten progressively slower. So, I'm warning you now: You may be seeing more of me if this new speed keeps up.

The new version is be written much better then our old one we were on.

I will be moving the various things like who is online and the like back to what we are used too in the coming day or so. I spent a lot of time here today and wife is not too happy. Functionality is back, the tweeks will come in the coming days!

New software is fabulous, Tim. Thank you.

but . . . did it always show my age right there for everyone to see?

And I'm 39 . . . go ahead, ask me my age, I'm 39. :lmao:

I see birthdays and who's online right where they always were with skin 7.

Could it be the browser? Mozilla 1.7.13. I know many skins don't work with it, so maybe layout . . .

I'm guessing Tim was able to fix it today, but I'm not sure.

I was logged in to the site, replying to a post, and when I hit Submit ( or maybe Preview) the site told me I needed to log in, and my long-winded reply was lost. Don't know if the post would've been worth reading, but I'm sad now.:crybby:

Tim - FANTASTIC! However, I agree with Melissa (39), Ages on the Avatar? Mrs Mass is only 28 - disregard ANY OTHER INFORMATION to the contrary!

Thanks to the mods who responded to my email yesterday - You all Rock my World!

Has anyone noticed the new rep points notice? After giving some rep, be sure to read the message before you exit. It's so nice.:)

Thanks so much, Tim. This site is such a blessing and I am so grateful for the time you sacrifice to not only to keep it running, but to upgrade it as well. You're worthy of much honor!

My avatar says I'm 47.....
Hey, I dispute that cruel accusation, especially when I've only been 21 for a few years!
Can someone please explain what the rep points thing means?

I just became 39 again so I could turn 40 this Friday! Finding Yes again and finding you all has made me feel YOUNG!

Seriously, Tim, what are you trying to do to us? Next you'll be posting our weight :lmao:
