Yes were working on Close To The Edge, and Bill Bruford was making plans for his grand escape. As for what was going on? I dont know, probably either they were waiting on Chris to arrive for rehearsals, or were debating on whether or not the base note should be F or should be F# after the bridge between the first part and the second part of the title track

As it's about 10.53 A.M when I'm replying to this they were probably waiting for Chris for several more hours yet, and the others were probably watchingEddy Offord crawling around the floor trying to find the best bits of tape to splice together

Meanwhile 3,000 miles away, a break-in was reported at the Watergate Hotel in Washington DC . . .

Jon and the boys continued to work on their new LP.

Okay, this is pretty late though.

July 19th, 1972, Original YES drummer Bill Bruford leaves the band after 4 years with them, oddly enough, on the eve of the opening night of the Close To The Edge tour, dates were cancelled (according to "Perpetual Change"). Shortly after, Eddie Offord mentions to the band about a drummer named Alan White, who they met with and started a 3 month "trial" period for Alan.
Yesterday, 30 years ago, the Close To The Edge tour starts in Louisville Kentucky, and Introducing Alan White as their "drummer in residence"
