Here's a thought I had and I'm wondering if it's a pipe dream of mine or if it could possibly happen. A few classic bands in recent years(eg Rush, Floyd) have taken to playing their most classic album entirely. I wonder if the guys would consider doing this with Fragile? Looking for some thoughts on this.

FRAGILE was a mix of band and solo compositions; enough solos so that each member had a track of their own. Bill Bruford's contribution, "5% For Nothing", has always been a fun - if brief - piece of instrumental prog. I'd be surprised to hear it, to be sure. (It'd be amazing if they did, but...)

We've always heard more tracks from THE YES ALBUM, FRAGILE and CLOSE TO THE EDGE at shows. And while "South Side of the Sky" would be cool, a "new" side from TALES FROM TOPOGRAPHIC OCEANS would be even better. "Remembering, High the Memory" would be great, but "'The Ancient' Giants Under the Sun" would be a complete knock out!

...and don't forget that we have had several tours where we get all three songs from Close to the Edge.

High The Memory or the Ancient would be awesome.

Which Rush album did they do in full?
Or was it just the 2112 piece?
Anyway......
I think that it would be harder for YES to choose an album to do all the way through because they seem to change drastically from album to album.
While there seem to be themes or threads of thought that prevail, there are not as many obvious concepts.
Naturally the exception to this would be Tales....and I for one would love to see a full Tales concert, but I really don't think it will ever happen, especially with Mr. Wakeman's return to the fold.
I was skipping through Close to the Edge book last night as well, and the panning they got from the critics on that tour would make them hesitant as well. I think they realise that the die-hards would love it....but feel it nessesary to draw a line closer to the middle when it comes to material to play live.

Close to the Edge as stated, has been done so to speak, but it wasn't in the order the way Floyd had done Dark side of the moon.
Had the orchestra continued this summer....it would have been great to see Magnification done in order and in full.
I guess this would pose a great question.....since so many YES fans have particular favs....to which album one would like to see
done in full?
My unrealistic vote (hey fantasies are ok!) remains Tales.

Performing all of TALES FROM TOPOGRAPHIC OCEANS is a long-running hope for many YesFans. They could do one or two gigs - so as to select the best performance - and release it on video!

MAGNIFICATION in its entirety would be great, too.

My personal request for an album in it's entirety would probably be something obscure like TIME AND A WORD (without the last track), TORMATO (including "Release Release"!!!!) or UNION (Hah!, I'd love to see them try to pull that one off! )

As for Rush, I think it was "just" the piece "2112". What's nice is that they released a great recording of it.

I believe the year was '96 that rush played the ALBUM 2112. My intent with this thread was to wonder if they'd play Fragile all the way through because it would give each of them a chance for a solo, would include two of their "hits", and also one classic. It would also include the song which seems to be getting the most press on this sight, South Side of the Sky. They could do all of this in 40 minutes and still have two hours to do with what they will. To me it would make a lot of sense, but then again not even my wife thinks I have much of that. By the way, Alan could make up his own solo in place of Bill's. I'm off to get the new DVD.

Taineer, I agree with you. I started a threat about this subject too, a few days ago before you did this. Rick and Alan could create their own solo's to replace/adjust Cans and Brahms and 5%.

Well then, if Alan gets a new "5%" and Rick gets to do something original (instead of "Cans & Brahms"), why not let the rest of the band in on it?

Steve's the easy one. He's continually writing solo pieces, but could Chris create a new bass-based song that's as successful as "The Fish"? Could Jon create different "We Have Heaven"?

Yeah guys, let's be creative! maybe some improvisations!

Why not do a Fragile II?

I love "We Have Heaven", and Jon could do another song as good as this easy.

"The Fish" is a great solo. Another one please, Chris?

Steve can play guitar in his sleep. Yet another solo would be easy.

Rick, similar to Steve, can do a new keyboard piece.

I'm sure Alan could do something, too.

Wasn't "Can I" on the LADDER...just a new exploration in vocal and rhythmic laring?...obviously with the revisited lines of
we have heaven there was a nod to the original version.
I always thought it may be a legitamate language that he was using on CAN I, but I have read that it is a made up sort of african sounding language. I know that Steve also contributed backing vocals for this one....I wonder if Chris or perhaps Alan or anybody else did as well?
I guess in that sense it is unlike WE HAVE HEAVEN, which was although highly overdubbed....still a solo piece.

I figure if they were gonna play any album in its entirety, it would probably be either fragile or close to the edge, since those are pretty much their "classic" albums, and both are up on their 30 anniversaries. But most likely would be Close To The Edge I would presume, since Alan has performed all 3 songs live before. They have never played "we have heaven" or "5% for nothing". yet again, "The Yes Album" hasnt exactly been completely covered yet either."A Venture" is still yet to be played live, even after 32 years.

"A Venture", "5% For Nothing", "We Have Heaven"; none of these were ever performed live. I think the only "little" Yes song ever to hit the stage was "White Car" which Geoff used as part of his keyboard solo (along with excerpts from "Video Killed the Radio Star").

It would be fun to see these "little" ones performed.

I never thought of them doing it with all new solos. It's agreat idea and maybe it would give them more of an incentive to do it.

I posted elsewhere about a live performance of "We Have Heaven" with Jon leading the different sections of the audience in a round.

"Tell the Moon Dog. Tell the March Hare. Tell the Moon Dog. Tell the March Hare."
"He is here. He is here."
"To look around. To look around."
"We have heaven. We have heaven."

Could be fun!

Hmm. I have always wondered (since I brought it up before). Why is it that YES have never played "a venture" before? Havent you? It's not a bad song at all, it is kinda neat. I wonder....
