OK just a quickie...
Lots of you know me already but here's a formal intro.
I'm Lisa, Earl's girlfriend and friend to lots of Yesfans already. I will be at the gathering next week (!) and I'm really looking forward to meeting those I haven't met yet.
My experience with Yes is as follows...I was turned on to them the same way I was turned on to lots of music-by my older brother and sister. My sis had The Yes Album and Fragile first, CTTE appeared at some point and I finally got Going For the One myself.
I have seen YES a few times live, the first was at the big stadium show in Philly back in...what year was that? 1975? Anyway that was a looooong crazy day. I saw them again in 1980 - at the Spectrum in Philly. It was really loud. I thought my head would explode. That's about all I remember. Oh, and that show was in the round.
A few years later I had the honor of opening a show at a good sized club in Philly for Bruford/Moraz. Very strange for this folky girl singer/songwriter to perform for a club full of rabid yesfans but I got through it and enjoyed Bruford and Moraz' set a lot.
Fast forward to 2001...I had know Earl for many years (I lusted after him from afar but he was with another woman and, well, I don't go there - bad karma and all) but once we got "involved" lo and behold I found out that Yes was still around and in fact still played concerts and recorded albums! I really didn't know what they were doing but I'm glad they are still out there.
I admit I don't know all of their songs and or albums but I am a fan. So I hope it's OK that I'm here.
I have had the pleasure of meeting bunches of you and it's always great fun. I think I can call myself a Liquor Locust although I'm often the designated driver for one Earl of Grey so I have to be good most of the time. But I promised Timmo that he will see me nice and drunk at the gathering...because I won't have to drive!!!
That's it for now...are there any questions?

Me, I was only 17, so a ... little while ago. I was supposed to be looking for a pic in my Catholic skirt outfit, but I'm afraid to post that one. Well, so far I'm afraid to post it.
There's a pic in my profile of me from Feb 04, just to keep the record straight.
:winknudge
Hey DW, long time no post. You posting means you have a break in your schedule? Good to see you. And go to The Gathering. It will be the best thing that has happened to you in a long time!

You were one little hottie and you still are. :dnce: Are you going to the gathering? Which thread can I look at to find out about it. If it is in CA I might stop by.

There's a whole subforum devoted to The Gathering. http://yesfans.com/forumdisplay.php?f=417
And please ignore my parody thread titled "PLEASE POST HERE IF YOU ARE CONFIRMED (and ONLY post this information)" listed in the "A Little About Me" forum. :lmao: It's my way of crying that I'm not going to The Gathering. It hurts my soul!
And hey, mmmYes will be at The Gathering, and I bet she will be playing a little too.

There will be a few people here starting at around 3 pm, but I think most folks are planning on wandering in later than that. It'll be a late night, so don't let the 3pm start time dissuade you.

I will stop by but it will probably be earlier than later. I am teaching a seminar in Anahiem but I will skip out early. I have an early evening engagement but hopefully someone will be around for awhile. It would be nice to attach some names to the faces. :dnce:

And there ya go!
Lisa has been reading our beloved site for some years now, Timmo and Smatt (blame it on Smatt! HAHA!) were able to talk my sweetie into finally posting, blame it on that and the rum drinks I mixed at the GATHERING meeting the other night!
KUDOS Smatty/Timmo. Love you guys.
Lisa is simply the most talented singer/songwriter/guitarist I know. She is truly a sage. She is pure Philadelphia, in the loop of all the best music to come out of Philly, back when your radio played music. If you ask her to play any Joni Mitchell or Todd Rundgren song, she'll tune her guitar in outragious tunings that I couldn't begin to understand (!), and play you the opus without so much as batting an eye (Oh, sure, she might bat an eye, for effect!).
Her own originals are the stuff of legend here in LA, she does a cover of Peter Gabriel's 'In Your Eyes' that Peter could only wish to ascend to. Heart, soul, encouragement. And she puts-up with me.
No small thing. She puts up with my obsessions, and I'm proud of her, love her, and am thrilled that she has finally ('bout TIME!) posted on our beloved site.
Welcome Lisa! Welcome home.
Love,inspiration,
Earlie:yesbird:

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. As I said I have had the pleasure of meeting many of you already.
Jodie- I wish you could be here for the gathering but we had fun when you were here recently!
Anne- we are saving our pennies to come visit you! Have you been watching "West Wing?" They tore down the set a few weeks ago...it was very sad.
Dee- will see you next week! yeah!!!
To all the rest of you...hopefully somewhere along the line we will meet in person.
and last but not least - Earlie - you made me cry. How can I resist a man who speaks in poetry, who's heart is as big and open as yours, and who makes music that moves my soul. :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
Hi Lisa, glad you decided to join us!
I look forward to seeing you again next week and hearing your music!

It wouldn't take me long
To tell you how to find it
To tell you where we'll meet
This little girl inside me
Is retreating to her favourite place
Go into the garden, go under the ivy
Under the leaves, away from the party
Go right to the rose
Go right to the white rose
I sit here in the thunder
The green on the gray
I feel it all around me
And it's not easy for me
To give away a secret
It's not safe
To go into the garden, go under the ivy
Under the leaves, away from the party
Go right to the rose
Go right to the white rose
Go into the garden, go under the ivy
Go under the leaves with me
Go right to the rose
Go right to the white rose
I'll be waiting for you
It wouldn't take me long
To tell you how to find it

My humble apologies for not posting sooner to extend a warm UK welcome to you Lisa. I just didn't realise it was you until TB mailed me and told me that you were 'mmmYes'.
I have been extremely fortunate in meeting so many US yesfans in person...all of whom I adore but you must be one of the kindest and most amiable....you have a very special quality and aura around and about you.
The welcome you gave to me when I was in CA is something I will never forget and is something for which I will always be grateful. The Warner Bros. tour you arranged for myself and the Aussie one was awesome.
Oh how I wish (with the benefit of hindsight) that I had stuck to my original plan and arranged to attend the gathering instead of buying tickets for every gig on the Syn tour. Unfortunately the tour cancellation came too late to organise CA.
Some time soon again I hope.
Welcome and keep posting!!

But then any picture of Kate Bush makes me a little weak at the knees. In fact i'll have to go and have a lie down
