View Full Version : Hi, I'm also new here

I'm kinda new to this forum stuff so y'all be nice to me, please. :Peace!:

And who is this "Yes" that you speak of? Are they the band that wrote that "Roundabout" tune I once heard on the radio during my youth? That was pretty good, I guess.

And that tune "Owner of a Lonely Heart" might have been them, right? That was pretty creative use of equalization, I thought at the time.

Anyways, I don't like to talk about myself much but if you're curious I'm a research scientist at my day job, and I play a little guitar at night. I used to be a famous soundguy, but I'm in Texas and country music is where the money is.

Might be that's why I haven't heard much about Yes.

Was that too verbose? Sorry.

Hi. :wavey:

I'm new here. :nose:

Really. ;)

Terry D.

P.S. I'll post an avatar after a while so you can see what I look like (sorry in advance), if I'm not banned by then. :wavey:

Hi Terry! Welcome to Yesfans, I hope you'll like it here.

I'm just watching the 9012LIVE dvd and Trevor Rabin says he bought a house near Austin, Texas. Maybe you're neighbors. If this is true, I'll be down to visit very soon. ;)

I suspect Trevor probably didn't buy a house in my neighborhood, unless he prefers life a little on the wild side with all the drive by shootings and all. (where's the embarrassed smiley around here?)

Who's Trevor Rabin, by the way?

Kidding, sort of. :D

Maybe I'll find out where old Trevor lives and buy a house near him just so I can meet you. ;)

Hi, Terry:
I apologize if this greeting is a little late, but welcome! :D

Just out of curiosity (and I've been known on this site to ask questions that I should know the answers to, but honestly I don't), but isn't Houston known for the violence? I've been to Austin once, and it seemed like a fun, friendly party town.

Ah, how I love Houston, where one need only roll down the window at night to fall asleep to the gentle susurration of gunfire sounds from every direction. :D

In Austin, the normal background noise is the sound of 10,000 guitar players wanking through the night in all twelve possible keys, sometimes simultaneously. The gunfire here is only sporadic and in any case can't compete with the Strats & Marshall stacks. :D

Well I have to consider that the footage on the dvd was from 1985 so who knows what happened. He said the house was somewhere on the outskirts of Austin. He did have a house in the Hollywood Hills so you can move there. ;)
He lives under the 'D' on the HOLLYWOOD sign.

I don't know if I could meet you though, that darned restraining order Trevor put on me may still be in effect. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/Cinderella528/N99%20Smileys/tongue.gif

I'm dying to spend a week in Austin for some live music, I'm a big fan of Texas Blues.

Welcome to the site, if you are indeed new (the long nose icon when you say "I'm new here" leads me to believe otherwise).

In any case, welcome!

OK, now I'm not new here anymore. I guess I'd better get to posting. :D

I guess I need to make a sig now that I have an avatar. I wonder if it's OK here to have a sig with a link to my band or my online groupie stories, given that neither of them is asking for money.

Better just go sigless for a while, maybe. ;)

Or maybe an Oscar Wilde quote would be ok.

Terry D.

P.S What's with this "picture" thing in the profile? Am I supposed to have my picture there instead of in my avatar? Dang, I'm a n00b, I'd better lurk around a while before I embarrass myself....

Also, can you post one of your newer songs with Pebblestar. I think the name of it was Coming Undone.

And PLEASE, put a link to your website in your profile and in your sig line if you'd like. I'll help & encourage you toot your own horn. (MrKnobs is one of my referrals. He's kind, fun and interesting.)

Weather choices in Austin are "hot" or "really freakin hot."

Thanks for the good words on "Pretty."

For something totally different (but on the same album), check out ROME (http://www.tellingstoriesmusic.com/music/RomeM.mp3). I know you folks around here like keyboards... :D
