Way to go, Neil ! ! !
I haven't gotten into the weeds threads. I'd love to see a Union concert on video. Union is one of my favorite line-ups. :D Seeing them all working together to perform this music is a total rush.

The original video made it's world premier on MTV back in '91. They played it a lot and I recorded it many times. They also showed a "Rockumentary" on the making of the Union album, which I have somewhere on tape.

Cinders - you have so much cool stuff! I think there needs to be a Yesexpedition to the back of your closets.

Please don't. You'll find Jimmy Hoffa there playing poker with Trevor.

Nah........Hoffa's in Giants Stadium. Rabin's been held hostage in Cindy's basement since 1995.

Yeah, but Hoffa was a Union leader, and Trevor was in Union.

WHY didn't they bother to include this wonderful video on the Greatest Video Hits, I'll never know. Even though the interview parts were filmed during the Union tour, it still would have been nice to have included this.

couldn't agree more----must have been some licensing problem with arista----------this is the most beautifully produced vid in the cannon--who directed this masterpiece?????and it has to be included officially nexttime.

I remember back in '91, there was a local channel in California and for 1.99 you could call a specific phone number and have videos played on your TV on demand...well after several plays of Lift Me Up, my Pop got the Cable bill and noticed about 20 bucks extra on that thing....so I decided to play it once more and vidoe tape it. Ive always liked this video, a strange sense of comradarie (sp) and enjoyment there...I still hate Union though ;)

The song list for Greatest Video Hit is mystery to me. There are twelve songs on it. I understand the six Rabin era tunes that are on the disk because they are the biggest singles ie Owner,Hold on,It Can Happen, Rhythym of Love,Leave it and Love Will Find A Way. But they throw in two Drama tunes Tempus Fugit and Into the lens. Now I like the Drama album but I dont really think the singles can considered "Greatest hits". The classic era stuff included is even more mind boggling. Wonderous Stories I love and I know it went to #1 in the U.K. But Madrigal and Dont Kill The Whale are a real puzzler and the version of All Good People is from the 90125 tour. Albeit a very good rocking rendition. There had to be vids of more classic stuff available for use so I dont understand the choices that were made.

The song list on this video isn't such a mystery.

The video was originally released in 1991 BEFORE the Lift me up video was recorded - hence no mystery. Of course they could have added it to the DVD re-release.

The release was designed to include the songs basically recorded for MTV and similar pre-MTV shows rather than performances on TV or in concert. They really only started to do that from GFTO onwards.
