Just back after an almost 30 YEAR absence from Yes music -- FINALLY got Yessongs. -- couldn't afford a triple album back then-- but my friends had it.
The CDs just arrived from Amazon last nite and -- into my car this AM for the drive to work.

OMG! How could I have forgotten how F**k**g AMAZING, EXCELENT, AWESOME . . . I can't even think of enough to say about it! I listened to I think the first four tracks and I'm so f**k**g blown away

How, how, how I ask you, could I have forgotten??

And when I think that it was a chance encounter with the recently defunct
AllYes station on Radio@Netscape that brought me back . . .

I can't wait to listen to more -- the whole thing thru, over and over again for the next few weeks.

(I also couldn't afford Tales. Just ordered Going for the One. Tales is soooo next)

Welcome, Melissa! I think the internet has definitely helped expose more people to Yes.

Wow, that was quick!
Thanks for the welcome.
I talked about not being able to afford double albums back then in my first thread in the new members section -- hope it's not annoyng to keep repeating myself. Truth to tell, I could have forgone cigs and alcohol and various mind expanding and altering drugs and afforded more music ;) Ah, well . . .

30 year absence?! Reminds me of a Star Trek episode ;). Oh yes, Yessongs. I never STOPPED listening to it and still am amazed and awed and thrilled. Congrats! Have fun! Tales is the one for me.
Make it so, number 1.

I had Yessongs on constantly throughout my sophomore and junior years of high school. The performances are still stunning. I most recently had it on less than a week ago. It's cool to see people are still discovering this unbelievably great album!!!!

It was those years for me, too, when I'd hang out at friends' houses and listen to Yessongs.

Do you STILL have the same copy?

Melissa, I have an extra copy of the Atlantic release of Tales. If you would like that instead of the Rhino release, I would be happy to send it to you.

Just PM me and let me know.

Happy to share the love!

Yessongs was my first real experience with Yes. I'll never forget how completely, totally blown away I was when I first heard it.

Welcome back Melissa. You have a lot of musical exploring to do!

"F**k**g AMAZING, EXCELENT, AWESOME," pretty well covers it. :D

No. That was my vinyl copy. I lost my entire vinyl collection in 1992. I bought a cassette copy that same week, which I still have, because I couldn't fathom being without it, and I have the last CD remaster. Yessongs never got the Rhino treatment.

I had Yessongs on 8-track as well as LP. I needed that 8-track because I had the most incredible 8-track boombox in the world. It was LOUD and sounded awesome. I played it every day on the way to Tech school in the 1979 to 1981 years.

That's one reason Eveready still sends me "thank you" cards every christmas... :P

I'm sorry, did you say 8-TRACK? Ah yes, I remember it well.

Would that I could have had it to blast every day in my car.

Had to bump this thread....

The YESSONGS version of "Close to the Edge" just came up on shuffle. G-----m this is still the ONE after so many years. On Fire!

I can't choose which is my favorite between the studio and this version...they are both unique enough.
