I wanted you all to welcome a long, lost, now found friend of mine to Yesfans. His name is Rick and we used to know each other during our High School days!
I was sure that, at some point, I would run into Rick on one of these Prog or Yes boards, because Rick is one of the people responsible for getting me so interested in Yes. I remember him exlaiming one day, "Buford is G-d!" He always played Yes albums when I was hanging at his house. And if my cobwebs havn't clogged the synapses too much, I think I remember him wearing a Relayer t-shirt. I'm telling you, this guy's got great taste!
Anyhow, if he figures this board out, which I'm sure he will, as he is quite the smart little cookie, I'll let Rick tell you about himself, rather than me telling you, if he is so inclined. I will tell you that I directed him to Yesfans because he mentioned that he is going to see the real Rick Wakeman in Danbury next month, and I thought he might enjoy hooking up with some like minded folks.
So folks, please welcome my old friend warmly. I am so glad that he joined the site today! I'm telling you, it's simply been waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long.
Hi Rick!!!!

Hello fellow Yes-heads!
Thanks to all of you, with special thanks to Sheila, for extending such a warm invitation into your community! I was thrilled to hear from Sheila and to learn of her abiding love of and involvement with my all-time favorite band. Sheila, my high school yearbook picture features both my Relayer shirt and Jon Anderson lyrics!
I've been a Yes fan since 1973, when, at age 14 I first heard CTTE. First show was TFTO, then saw the Relayer tour twice, then many of the "In the Round" shows from G4T1 forward. Saw the Drama tour, many Rabin-era shows, ABWH, the Union tour, 30th Anniversary Tour, which iirc was my last live experience. Like Sheila, I grew up in New Jersey; from my corner, I could hop a bus and be in Manhattan in 45 minutes, so I spent my teen years going to many prog shows in NYC, and in my college years primarily in Boston.
I'm a devotee of symphonic rock, and an unabashed fan of the so-called neoprogressive genre (love IQ, Jadis, Arena, Pallas, Twelfth Night, Marillion etc.) as well as prog-metal (love Symphony X, Ayreon, Pain of Salvation, Dream Theater, Threshold).
I look forward to getting to be a part of OUR community, so thanks again Sheila!

So glad to have you hear, Ricky!
As my weary synapses are short circuiting, I'm trying to recall, didn't I go see Yes with you at Roosevelt Stadium? You'll have to fill me in.
Anyhow, here's one from the archives for ya.

Great pic! I think the guys here will agree, however, that Sheila is much cuter than Jon. Yes, Sheila, Jersey City beckoned us to the outdoor Relayer show at Roosevelt Stadium. I seem to remember some problems with the hot air balloon with the TFTO logo on it! Sheila my love- WE WERE SIXTEEN!

That Atomic Sex Bomb really knows what she's doing. JaneE is a blast, funny and cute to boot, too.
Sorry, females kinda don't do anything for me...except Catherine Zeta-Jones!
And it sure is fun to watch JaneE tease the guys.

HI RICK!
You know how many times I've typed "Rick, (NOT Wakeman)" on this site? Many, since my significant other (who is so pissed at me right now and might NOT be my SO for much longer) name is also Rick. So I LOVE your screen name.

Well, if in an alternate universe my old friend Gregg Rickman -- who in this universe is one of the foremost living experts on the life and work of the incomparable Philip K. Dick -- was a member of classic Yes, then this thread would be welcoming a new member calling himself "Wake not Rickman!"
Therefore, in that spirit allow me to extend a hearty Yesfaans welcome to Wake not Rickman!
Cheers,
Rawn

Thanks Ron. I'm a big sci-fi fan myself, though I haven't read enough Philip K. Dick. I did read, however, K.W. Jeter's excellent "sequel" to Blade Runner, "The Edge of HUman." Jeter's one of my all-time fave SF writers.

Welcome RNW
You're going to like it here in God's Little Acre. I too am an old science fiction fan (refering to my age AND the types of movies I delight in). If you have'nt read any Philip K. Dick yet, you really should. His books also translate well into movies.
But, as I've said, I love old science fiction movies, and the worse they were filmed, the better I like them. I want to be able to see the power units (commonly called strings and sparklers) on those old flying saucers and rockets.
Anyway, enjoy yourself here. This is a great bunch of people. :cool2:
