It's funny you brought this up, dances. When I saw The Syn in Cleveland I went to the HoF that afternoon to get some cds signed by the Chris, Steve and Gerard (which was being held at fye store there). After getting those signed, I decided to look through the bins and found a cd of two of Donovan's albums: Cosmic Wheels and Essence To Essence. I was reminded in an another thread here that Alan played on Cosmic Wheels so I had thought about getting that cd signed by him after the show (he still hadn't come in from LA yet). Unfortunately, I had to leave shortly after the concert, and couldn't stay for that signing. I think he would've got a kick out of signing it, though!

Alan- isn't he also on George Harrison's All Things Must Pass?

Jon- David Sancious, one of the world's finer musicians has sessioned with him, and toured, as well, no?

Steve- has been onstage for at least one of those great guitarist tributes(don't remember which one or to whom ,lol, but he was up there at least once with oh, at least several dozen other guitarists).

Rick- on Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath!Bowie's Space Oddity!Cat Steven's Morning Has Broken!Just to name a few!

Chris- the ill-fated XYZ experiment.

Tony Kaye- toured with Bowie.Played with Badfinger(well, ok, not quite legendary, lol).Kaye was considerably in demand as a session man at one time.

Bill Bruford's meandering career- toured with Genesis, decades with King Crimson producing some of the world's most unique music, UK...and on and on...

Much of this isn't playing out,so to speak, but it does speak to how widely the Yes tendrils tend to run...

Phil that's a great story!

APC-Yes, he is on George Harrison's album(s). I saw that when looking up the John Lennon/Yoko(Loco Oh-no) works.

Mello-Steve played on a song on a Dixie Dregs album. He also played on "Innuendo" by Queen.
WOW, who'd of thunkit?
.................................................. ............................

I just put Alan's name up but what about the other band members? Who did they play out with. I'm thinking Rick must have really spread the good news and Chris, well that's a given.

You're thinking of K.C. and the Sunshine Band's
"That's the Way I Like It"

(gads I hope you were kidding, I sure was)

Trevor Rabin played with -

Paul Rogers
Seal
Manfred Mann (3 albums)
Tina Turner
Rick Wakeman (Return To The Centre Of The Earth)
Jon Anderson (3 Ships)
Michael Jackson (2 albums)

There's probably many more, because he was a session musician. He's given credit on Def Leppard's album Pyromaina, but only because he lent them some equipment.

Didn't Steve and Rick play on Lust for Life with Iggy Pop? Rick played with everyone in the seventies.

He was on Seal's self titled album, Seal. He played guitars on the song Killer and I do believe on his big hit Crazy. Trevor Horn was involved with the production, so both Trevors were there. :D

Very cool. I knew Trevor Rabin had done a lot in the film industry because I have seen his name in the credits for musical direction or score.

Tony Levin also appeared on the recording of Seal's Crazy.Further proof of Orbert's Tony Levin hypothesis("an astonishing 62%"...etc.,lol), even outside of the prog realm...although, there is a prog tinge to that song...

Where is Orbert these days? I'm surprised we haven't seen him post here.

What about Steve? Where did he lend a hand to?

Well, Patty...and perhaps this is one of the more incongruous Yes connections...lol...

Steve is purported to have played on Frankie Goes To Hollywood's Welcome To The Pleasuredome...("Relax" ringing a bell?)

(which, personally speaking I find one of the bleaker moments is music history...lol)

As to Orbert's whereabouts, I do not know, but wherever he is, I hope he comes back!

I find it hilarious that Steve Howe played on Frankie Goes to Hollywood's album. I mean... really funny, in a good way.

Steve appeared (quite a bit) on an album called 3 Ages of Magick by Oliver Wakeman. Our 2 copies are the only things we have that Steve has signed ( and so has Oliver)

Annie Haslam and Steve Howe -

Annie became involved in a ‘YES’ tribute CD where she would record with Steve Howe, the ‘classic’ song ‘Turn of the Century’. This led to Annie and Steve Howe writing material for an album together. Although the album is unfinished at this time, blending the melodic style of Steve’s incredible guitar playing with Annie’s ethereal five octave voice makes this project very unique. Their association was to take a strange twist in 1995. After being so moved by a TV program on orphans in Bosnia, Annie had been compelled to call ‘Inside Edition’, (a TV news magazine show in the states). A connection was made that would lead to Annie organizing a benefit concert in New York in aid of these unfortunate children in Sarajevo. The concert was put together with the help of ‘20th Century Guitar Magazine’ who later did a wonderful spread to record the evening’s events. It was a huge success and was held at Irving Plaza (kindly donated for the evening by John Scher) in NYC with such names as Justin Hayward, Gary Brooker, Roy Wood, Cheap Trick, Steve Howe, Phoebe Snow, Steve Holley, Ian McDonald, Tony Visconti and David Biglin with Al Franken as the host of the evening. This was a night to remember which hopefully one day will be made into a CD.

Alan played in Ginger Baker's Air Force.

His only Harrison album was ATMP, which he played considerably on (including My Swee Lord). And let's not forget, he played at the first ever Beatles solo concert (before they actually broke up), the Toronto show with John, Yoko, Eric Clapton and Klaus Voorman. :theband:

Yeah, that recording (album) they did together is tabled. Annie went on to focus on what appears to be charity work and her art. (art in a different form)
She was inthe band Renaissance.

Yep, and what a show it was. I was in the front row at a small club. Not only was David's playing of Jon material outstanding, but his playing on Yes material was stunning!, and Steve is one of my all time favorite GTR players. I also loved Tony Levin's performance on the ABWH tour. Those rubber mallets on Heart of the Sunrise, and those other plexiglass? finger extenders were great.

The Yescography at http://www.relayer35.com/Yescography/home.htm has many more examples. Anderson has played with King Crimson, Mike Oldfield, Bela Fleck, Toto and even Robert Downey Jr. Steve Howe has played with Lou Reed, Billy Currie and Animal Logic. Squire has played with Gov't Mule.

Wakeman and Kaye have both played with David Bowie. Wakeman has also played with Black Sabbath, Elton John (as has Horn), Cat Stevens and Wally. Kaye has also worked with Badfinger and the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. Sherwood has worked with Paul Rodgers, Air Supply, John Wetton, Keith Emerson, Ian Anderson, Robby Krieger, Dweezil Zappa and Toto. Trevor Horn has worked with everybody who is anybody... Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner (as has Rabin), Grace Jones, Pet Shop Boys, Mike Oldfield, Cher, Tom Jones, Malcom McLaren, Charlotte Church, LeAnn Rimes, Faith Hill, Texas, Celine Dion, Tori Amos, Kelly Rowland, Marc Almond, ABC and t.A.T.u.
