This is kind of nit-picky, but one of the things that I CANNOT stand are terrible Hammond organ clones. I can hardly stand to listen to anything Hammond-related that Igor plays because he is using either the crappy Hammond -Suz XB-2 or the equally crappy OX-7 tone module.
These things don't even sound CLOSE to the real thing!! I mean...he could at least have hauled a small leslie around. That would help a little!
Wakeman does a lot of the same thing - using some god-awful Korg organ sound. I mean...WHY? I can cut Igor some slack because maybe he hasn't spent much time behind the wheel (or tonewheels, as the case may be) of a Hammond B-3...but RICK should know better!!
Ok...got that off my chest.

I don't know the terminology, but the sounds I hate were the sounds you found in a lot of contemparary 80's songs. The sounds I'm talking about will be found on Owner of a Lonely Heart (before Trevor's solo), and a number of duran duran songs (the one that comes to mind is the Theme song for A View To A Kill - tons in that one), but everyone was doing them back then.
Does anyone know what I mean?

Wakeman just butchered Starship Trooper on Keys.

I agree 100% except for his solo at the end he destoyed the peice that is one song that I prefer the great Tony kaye on than Rick Wakeman oh by the way anyone know of a website to get free boots I found one place but it got shut down thanks

Brass... Worst Keyboard sound. I dig Igor's playing and sounds, but I can't believe he used keyboard brass on a yes song in Homeworld. Granted, Bruce Fairbarn was big on the real thing (the Marguerite Horns... example; Aerosmith's Dude Looks Like a Lady) but hearing that was the low point of the album.
Btw: Brass NEVER belongs in yesmusic. Point Given

I was wondering, does anybody know if that is an orchestra or keyboards doing the string sounds on 'Soon' at the end of Gates of Delerium? Sounds really good.

The string sounds on SOON on Relayer are KEYBOARDS. Pat Moraz really excelled on his sole studio Yes album.

I agree Rob. Moraz could play a symphony on keys better than practiacally anyone (save for Rick on Tales).
Another one that bugs me is practically all of Tormato. That was made in the height of Rick's drinking days and he must have been plastered that whole album. He's SO much better than that...Jack.

You'd know, Riffer...But I still bet he was drunk the whole time!!! I know I was!!!
I tell everyone that I took some acid in 75 and didn't come down until 88. I found out reality isn't that bad after all!!! Jack.
