We get quite a few members asking us what various terms mean that are frequently used on Yesfans. Here is our list of explanations.

Weeds - these are unofficial live recordings of Yes and Yes solo shows that are traded on this site

Re-weed - to re-offer in the trading room a show received as a weed

Burn - to copy CDs & DVDs

Burner copy - the person that takes this weed is obligated to re-offer the weed in the trading room within 1 week of receiving it. The minimal offer is 2 burner copies, 1 burnerless

Burnerless copy - if you accept this weed it is presumed that you DON"T have the capacity to burn (copy) it. Hence there is no obligation to re-weed it. If you accept a burnerless copy and it is known that you have the capacity to burn your reputation might suffer.

Reputation - this is a way that you can let other members know thatyou approve or disapprove their posts. You can give another member reputation by clicking on the symbol under their avatar. The little green boxes show the member's level of reputation. You can choose to have this viewed by others or to turn it off through the options section in your User Control Panel

Reputation comments - when you give reputation to another member you can leave a comment to that member that other members cannot view. You can view your reputation comments in your User Control Panel

User Control Panel - this is found under the profile icon on the top left of the page. Here you can edit your thread subscriptions, view reputation comments, access PMs, change your public profile, avatar and signature

User Notes - When you view a member's profile, you will see an area called User Notes. It is in this area that you can leave a friendly note for that member. All members on Yesfans can view each other's User Notes.

Profile - you completed this when you registered for Yesfans. It gives information about you that is accessible to other Yesfans members. You can update it at any time through the profile icon.

Forum - a physical area on Yesfans comprised of sub-forums and threads of logically related topics, i.e. The Tour Forum.

Sub-forum - a physical area on Yesfans comprised of even more logically associated topics, i.e. The Syn Tour 2005, The Yes Tour 2006.

Threads - individual areas to which you post your comments. All threads either belong to a forum or sub-forum.

PM - Private Message - you can send another member a Private Message which is only seen by the recipient. To send a PM, click on the poster's user name and choose the option to send a private message.

Avatar - The picture below each members name when they post. You can add your own avatar in your "User Profile"

Threadcrap - when a member strays away from the topic of the thread in their post

Chat room - located on an icon at the to right of your screen. A place to chat real time with other Yesfans members

Stickies - these are threads that give important information about Yesfans. They remain at the top of the page in the forum most appropriate for the topic

Signature - this appears under every post. It can be words and/or images. You can update it by accessing it through the profile icon.

Invisible mode - if you select this in the 'options' section under profile, you will not be listed on 'Who's online' as being active on the site but you will be able to read and post normally.

Forum Skin - there are a number of different colours/designs that you can view Yesfans. Check them out in the options section.

Subscriptions - you can subscribe to threads and forums - when you do, and if you have indicated that you wish to receive email notifications, you will receive an email notifying you of a new post. With email notifications you MUST keep a CURRENT email address in your profile. Not doing so causes a lot of bounced email back to the site admin! You can also subscribe to Yesfans by paying an annual fee and receive additional benefits.

Upgrading your account - if you subscribe to Yesfans you can upgrade your account depending on how much you pay

I don't mind the album abbreviations but when people start using them for songs it drives me freaking crazy. I can deal with BG, but when you see WHYCSTD or TTWTTM.........just forget it!
