Help me to welcome Jason Loren Powell, born in Chicago on 11/21/05!
8lb., 3oz., 20.5in.
Everyone's happy and healthy, mom and dad are overjoyed. What a great Thanksgiving gift!
Now for the poll. It's been a hectic week and I haven't had a chance to play Jason any of the best music on earth yet. What shall his first yessong be?

Congratulations Capn! Adorable Jr Yesfan there (...and WHERE did you find that YES blanket?!).

When my youngest daughter Ivy was born, her mom would play quiet 'ambient' music, thinking that would calm her, she would cry and cry and cry... FInally, on a whim, I put on 'Appetite For Destruction' by G&R on the stereo, the kid got quiet, and started laughing... Go figure!

Try 'Heart Of The Sunrise' if the quieter Yessongs don't do the trick! :ele:

All the best to you, adorable kid!

'Madrigal'.

Can he sing yet?
( How do you know he doesn't prefer AC/DC or the BeeGees? )

It Will Be A Good Day.

Good one, Tom!

Congratulations Captain! I was thinking of Hep, Yadda Yadda (To Be Alive). It seems like the appropriate message. Heck, he probably might recognize the lyrics already. My six year old loves it and tells me that I can play it anytime. :baby:

I was thinking of Hep, Yadda Yadda (To Be Alive).
Now THAT'S a good one! ;)

How about "The More We Live- Let Go"

From this moment on we share the world;
The more we give, the more we love, the more we grow.

Congratulations!

I say the first Yes song he should hear should be "Miracle Of Life".

Someone already said that, so a second one would be "Parallels". "The Calling" is a third choice!

Please let us know which one you decide!

'And You and I' or 'Holy Lamb'.

"The future is a friend of yours and mine'.

"Siberian Khatru" seems nice for a newborn. One must certainly remember that "even Siberia goes through the motions" and that life is merely a mismash of cycles.

You also can't go wrong with "Mood For a Day" since it's a fantastic instrumental. Any lyrical representation would likely be useless at this point, and this would circumvent that quite well.

Or you could go with "The Revealing Science of God". If the child can make it through that lyrical labyrinth, you may have a genius on your hands ha.

ii. Rock Gives Courage

You don't need anybody, don't you give me that surprise
Everything about you inside your eyes
You don't need anybody in your family ties
You crossed over the river.

or how about this....

Let's Pretend
Anderson/Howe/Wakeman/Bruford/Vangelis

Let us be together, let's pretend that we
Are free, let's all be where the angels
Find us, we all have the key
Shall we seal the truth of life
Shall we light the heavens
We're so good at finding pleasure
As to what we are, and how we fit
Together

Let us sing the song it is
Let the sound of all belief
Let's all find that space in life
To follow in between
It's something that I feel
To pour upon my soul
Countenance of love
For one n' all
To know there's so many ways
The force of nature prevails
I lay down, I lay down and I pray

Let's get our hearts together
And as before, and like before
We'll do again

To know there's so many ways
The force of nature prevails
I lay down, I lay down and I pray

Let's get our hearts together
As before, and like before
We'll do again

Do again...

Quite right Earl, and that was the winner of my little poll. Great suggestions everyone, (is there REALLY a bad one?) but Future Times/Rejoice has long been a personal favorite so that's what I went with. Mom snapped a pic during the Rejoice section (attached). I've decided to go with all of the great selections you guys gave me since I have the day off today. I haven't replaced my vinyl Tormato yet so I had to scramble for the Quebec '79 weed. It really was amazing how he stopped fussing and listened eyes wide open when the song began. He didn't think much of 'Circus of Heaven' (Daddy's boy) but dug 'Time and Word' and LDR. I followed it up with Clap/Mood for a Day from the live ABWH release, still playing now. Thanks for letting me share this w/you guys!

Kirk

BTW, that's not a Yes blanket he's sporting there, just my favorite tee used as one.
