View Full Version : Which YES shows are you going to this year?

Thought it would be interesting to chart where we're going to see YES on a visual bar graph. Click on the show or shows you will be attending. Anyone who has to vote for the first option - Unable to see YES on this tour :( ; I truly hope they will make it to your homeworld soon.

Another great poll i-and-i. 5 shows in one week for me. My father said I should just ask them if I could go on their bus. Father knows best, right? Ok, who do I ask? hahaha!

I am the luckiest man in the world. Every time I have seen Yes in the last few years, I have always thought it would be the last time and have done everything in my financial power to see them as many times as possible during that tour. I have and will continue to (Knock on wood) form my once a year vacation around the band that can never be replaced as my favorite. My fanaticism borders on obsession. My obsession borders on the only thing that comes close to spirituality for me. Masterworks was southern U.S.. Symphonic was East Coast including RCMH when I was fortunate enough to buy drinks for Squire all night long the night before at some bar in Manhattan (and fortunate enough to fly out on Sept. 10). This year my girl and I will do Seattle, Konocti, Shoreline, and Universal. High vibration go on and on and on........

p.s.
gt76yesman is nothing but an enabler!!!!!!(maybe)

Does anyone know the deal with the pre-sale tickets in LA. It seems either all the tickets are bought except those on the sides or better seats aren't available yet. Which is it? I've never bought tickets on-line before, although last year at the Universal box office there were great seats being sold on the day of the show. What's up with that and why should I pre-buy. Knowledgable Yesfan please explain.

Looking forward to a great show July 17th at the beautiful, accoustically sound paramount theatre in Seattle!!! I was lucky to see them last year at the St Michelle Winery, and score a 5th row seat 15 feet in front of the Master of the Rickenbacker, Mr. Squire!!! Unbelivable show!!! Seen them 8 xs, looking forward to the 9th!!!!!!

Us midwesterners got shafted, unless it's true that more dates are TBA. I just can't afford to travel long distances to see the band, it has to be close, and they are nowhere near Cincinnati or Nashville. Hopefully, more dates close to here WILL follow, but for now, it's a no go. Very sad....Maybe I just got stuck at 13..Jack.

being just down the interstate from you, i feel similarly out-of-the-loop ... i'll be able to make the Chicago show but I won't be able to take a group with me, as i had planned if they were in Nashville/Cincy/Indy ...

I feel bad for anyone not going to at least one show. I think everyone should at least get a ticket for the nearest show they are playing, and maybe some people in the forum can help out anyone who might need a place to sleep for the night.

And 1yesfan Tim...I agree. You just gotta go. Certainly someone in the forum can help you with some aspect of getting there, somewhere to stay for the night. If you don't go, I understand this forum will become an MC HAMMER Fans Forum.

no show for us this year. :crybby: the closest they are coming is atlanta. while it's only 3-4 hours away, i just can't do it. i took my 12yo daughter to the masterworks show in charlotte. i really wanted to take my 16yo son to a show before he grows up and moves away. as it is, i keep finding my cd's in their players (except magnification -- none of us likes it much).

gunsfornuns, I am so sorry for you to have to miss this show. Who knows if you will ever have another opportunity. We are spoiled here in the states and I think we take for granted that they will tour again next year. I hope you will reconsider and catch them in Atlanta and that you can take your 16 y/o.

One more thing, please try Magnification again. Put it on in the background in your house while you are doing things--and just put it in repeat mode. Have it on for at least one entire day. I will just bet that it will work its magic on you and you will be amazed at how much you end up loving it. Please try it and let us know of your experience.

Hey PNC attendees.

I belong to another Yes fan club and we do a nice tailgate every year at all the NY/NJ/PA shows. We had a nice coo at last year's Philly tailgate when I invited Bob Cesca to drop by our tailgate for a couple of beer and just a meet and greet. Well, he not only stopped by but he brought along his video camera and interviewed some of our friends and they wound up being on the Symphonic DVD documentary.

I've already told some of them that I want to merge the 2 clubs tailgates for an even bigger one this year. (we had 50 + members at last year's tailgate) We rock out the parking lot before and after the show and sometimes wind up hanging with a few of the band members. We all get there early and try to park close to each other as we wind up in about the same spot every year. For PNC, it's usually the North parking lot close to the entrance. Rows A, B and C. Not the far north one where you have to walk up the hill...we are right by the entrance to get into the seats close to the box office. As it gets closer to concert time, I'll post more detailed info and sometimes we even put up a club banner so we are easy to find.

Around mid July, I'll start a thread for each tailgate and anyone who is interested can PM me and we can swap cell numbers and such so if you can't find us in the parking lot, you can call and we can all hook up pre-show.

Summer just isn't complete without a killer tailgate at a Yesshow!
Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Trooper1129
06-12-2002, 12:51 AM
Oh, by the way....the Philly tailgate will be awesome as well and I'll post a seperate thread for our pre-show plans and some possible after show parties for that one....

Tooper:

Thanks for the info, I'll see you there. FYI, security checks are causing long lines into PNC so anyone planning on getting there last minute may not see the opening. It's been like that for the first couple of shows. Maybe they will get better at it as the summer moves along.

Yes, ...........we Britons....you know the original fans who first supported Yes....through the last years of the 60's and throught the early 70's....till they took off (eventually) in the States...

WE...will probably NOT get to see them play live in our(and their) country of 'Birth and origin' this year.......

I'm not angry just slightly annoyed...and wishing BIG TIME they'd play just a handful of dates over here...

Yes, I know it could be worse...I could be an Australian Fan...
...and still be waiting 30 years on......

Maybe I should rob a bank and just get me rear over der....MON.

Austin is not on the poll list.
I'll put 1200 miles on the ol' Volvo this summer going to YESshows
my 16th YESshow, Austin (2nd row center)
my 17th YESshow, Dallas (10th row center)
both tickets scored from pre-sale using a dial-up account, so no camplaints, and many thanks to YESmanagment for the opertunity.
I'll consider Austin a "karmic rebate" since I had an equal seat for the Indianapolis Masterworks show that was re-sceduled to a date I could not attend.

I figure we'll all try to park in the same section as last year for PNC and we'll be able to find each other quickly.

Are you going to see Rush next Friday? I'm looking forward to that one.

I don't see multiple shows on the same tour of ANY artist, that's not devotion, it's lunacy. It's like going to the same movie over and over again. But I can say that I have been fortunate to have seen YES on all five tours ('97-2001) previous to this one and feel very thrilled every time, just like a 15 year-old going to his first concert...the East coast fan base has always been larger for Yes, it shows on the diagram above, but here in Houston,Texas we may be a small crowd but we love them just as much, see you all noisy at the consession stands but listening quietly in the concert hall. Please, please tell that to your friends, lets go see YES but let others enjoy the music and leave the chattering at home, see you on tour 2002!!

In a way I see your point Relayer_1. But every concert is a different experiance. Each show has it's own feeling. Some nights this guys on and that guys off. Somtimes they really click. I guess I take live shows differently then some. Same songs different presentation!

a movie is a recording, it will be exactly the same every viewing.
listening to a CD over and over is like going to a movie over and over.
and even then, each time you hear a CD what is different is you.
what's on your mind, how you feel, your "mood for a day" all these things are filters that that recording pass through to get in your head.

A live performance is a one time event, even if the set list is the same as the night before. I'm driven to visit multiple stops on a tour to experience the artists I enjoy in a rare way. to share a time and place with the artists, and experience their art leave their hands and enter my senses in real time.
An added bonus to the live experience is meeting others from other places that also feel the need to be there.

I just bought my Tix for the 8/13 Atlanta show at Hi-Fi Buys/Lakewood Amphitheater...Not my favorite venue, but it is much better than Chastain where I last saw them on the '98 tour. Chastain is in a residential upper income area, so the volume had to be kept to a minimum. Also, it favors "subscribers" to a Summer concert series, and allows people to bring in their Wine & Cheese baskets in...sigh...too much conversation going on (more of a social event than a concert). Yes' performance was great though...but I am looking forward to Wakeman's return. I haven't seen him since '91.

By the way, I know what's going to happen. I'm moving in September, Yes will announce a second leg in October, and they'll be hitting Vancouver and missing Toronto. Just watch!

Yeah, now that I think about it, that would be a cool place for all yesfans from around the world to get together for a Yes concert wouldn't it.

Hi
You don't know how fortunate you Americans are when talking about live music. I live in Barcelona, Spain (which is situated in the south of Europe and is not a picturesque backwater one horse town). Yes have come here 3 times, I think: 1984 (90125),
1989 (ABWH), 1999 (The ladder). Do you think that's enough? They tour USA endlessly and they rarely come to Europe. Not anymore. And if they do they drop in UK, Germany and, perhaps, another lucky country. I think they are not treating fans that well. You see, America is not the centre of the world though some of your replies show hints.
See you

I will only tell what was requested.

I was walking in the main lobby of the Hilton, and Steve, in his blue "Hawaiian" shirt, walked by carrying a tote bag. His "assistant" was with him, the guy with the curly black hair. There is a comedian that looks like the assistant who has bulging eyes, but I can't remember the name. (Yes, Steve did his have carpet during the show.)

I was standing next to John Lynker. I grabbed John's arm, as I was speechless, and began following Steve. I called out, "Steve!" and he actually turned around and smiled. I think I just said Hi, but John thanked him for his music, and told him that he played his stuff. He wouldn't shake hands, but this was about 2 hours before the concert, and I really can't blame him. At least, he was cordial.

I talked to Alan in the lounge in the Hilton's casino with the miles and miles of crystal chandeliers sparkling at about 3 in the morning (Sunday). He was talking to Steve's assistant and another guy. I leaned over and told him that the concert was superb, much better than Denver. (Get this!) I actually said, You guys made less mistakes." He smiled and said we are allowed to make mistakes. (Technically, they were almost perfect.) I told him I would go see Yes if they played kazoos and hauled oxygen tanks around. He smiled again. I patted his hand, and he took my hand, and wouldn't let go. We talked for a few minutes (he looked tired), and I left. That was it.

What a gentleman! He must really love the fans!

I guess it just confirms what I knew all along, that the members of Yes are kind and compassionate. Look at Jon's lyrics: they are oozing with compassion and emotion. I allow and accept Steve's standoffishness, because, and this may sound weird, maybe his humanness comes out in his music; and, the fact that the quest for perfection may not require that Steve be the most amiable or friendly of band members by virtue of what he does. And, maybe, he holds those feelings in check, in order to deliver the near pefect technical performance. Not all technical people are warm and fuzzy. Well, I hope I made some sense.
