Quite a line up again. Seems Billy can pull people together. I am very surprised to see Bill Bruford as I wouldn’t of thought this was his bag. Also surprised to Tony Keye as I thought he had retired from the music business. On the other hand no Chris Squire which seemed odd.

Tony was on Sherwoods last project as well.

Don't think Squire is on top of Billy list at the moment, well he could be depends on what list we have him on! I don't think he has been happy with him since he joined Syn and seems to have forgotten Conspiracy.

Speaking of Conspiracy : Conspiracy & ex-Empire drummer Jay Schellen had joined Asia and is currently on tour in the UK.

Watts thanks for the info. I didn't realise that Tony was on Sherwoods last project. I wonder if Chris is on Alan’s Xmas card list?

It is in the works, recording has begun.

I will post more as details come into me.

Watts thanks for the info. I didn't realise that Tony was on Sharwards last project.

Well, he was and he wasn't. Kaye was on a 2002 Pink Floyd tribute album called Pigs & Pyramids and put together by Sherwood with Bob Kulick. Four tracks on this year's Back Against the Wall, including the one Kaye is on ("Run Like Hell") and the one Squire is on ("Comfortably Numb"), are just taken directly from Pigs & Pyramids and are not new recordings. (I wonder whether the same will happen again with the three Pigs & Pyramids tracks from Dark Side of the Moon?)

Work on Returning to the Dark Side of the Moon is well under way. A Jan 2006 release date has been mooted, although that seems rather soon.

This is awesome. I cannot wait. Pink Floyd has needed a good tribute album for years.

Why you don't think Bill rocks? Think again. He's all about great Rock n Roll, just that he dedicates the majority of his momentum to jazz.

I look forward to it too... but this will be the fourth Pink Floyd tribute album with which Sherwood has been involved (The Moon Revisited (1995), Pigs & Pyramids (2002), Back Against the Wall (2005) and now Returning to the Dark Side of the Moon)! (Details of all of those in the Yescography: http://www.relayer35.com/Yescography/billyshe.htm .) Then there are other Floyd tribute album's like Jaz Coleman and Youth's orchestral Us and Them with the London Philharmonic, which I rather like, and there are two other symphonic Floyd albums, there's also Pickin' on Pink Floyd: A Bluegrass Tribute and so on and so on.

Sorry, Mizer, can you explain...? I was a bit lost what you meant by "one track is totally new the other 2 plan to be redone".

No I believe Bill to be a very versatile drummer. It’s just that I get the impression that whenever he works in the rock world he thinks his selling his soul to the devil. In particular he is famous for not wanting to tread old ground, playing the same old stuff night after night, therefore a tribute album seemed strange. Thinking about it he was involved in Symphonic Yes (or what ever it’s called). Just for the record I think the work he produces within Earthworks is very good and is always worth buying. He is also excellent live in this context playing small venues, although seeing him live is easier if you live here in Britain.

A-ha! I understand what you were saying now. No, I didn't know that. You overestimate my knowledge of such details! However, I have heard good things about Pete's guitar contributions to the album.

You know....what really blows my mind (singling out one of the boys in the band), that Gary Green has been just playing in local bands back in the Chicago area for years. As I understand it, he is a working bloke like you or me....just making a living and playing "on the weekends" so to speak. GARY 'FRIGGIN' GREEN I TELL YA! It makes me glad that I quit pursuing the "brass ring" quite some years ago, having played full time and professionally for over ten years on the road. Anyone who has been privileged enough to make music a full time endeavour (full time all out commitment) can tell you, there are amazing adventures and memories left us who have since "moved on" to "real" jobs. But when a guitar genius like Gary Green (Gentle Giant was chock full of incredible ideas and mad genius) is left to playing on the weekends in local bands, I know there wasn't ever really much chance of my maintaining a lucrative career playing my own music. Anyway, this post is meant to compliment Mr. Green on his consistently great (and subtle) playing over all those years as a member of that illustrious group, Gentle Giant! (here here and amen!)

oh, and how lucky am I that my girlfriend gets Gentle Giant....really gets their music and appreciates it.....that IS so cool!

anyone who has had the joy of watching a laser light show in a planetarium or IMAX theatre set to DSOTM can appreciate hearing it again.

A recent interview with Wakeman hints that he may be on the new project too. However, that's all I've heard: ask Watts -- he's better connected with regards this project!

Billy must be thrilled to be working with the guys from XTC as I heard him say he was a fan. Maybe he could convince them to work together again.
