I just bought Gates Of Delirium and understood how much I still have to find. I've been considering of buying Tales From Topo... but theres two version available
The "original" remastered CD costs only 8.95 €, But the Remastered and Expanded CD is more than twice expentesive. So does the remastered and expanded have better sound quality or are the only additions those two bonus song? How is it better than the cheaper one, which should I buy?

the expanded one is most interesting for its alternate version of The Ancient... RSOG isn't terribly different, except for its scratch vocal track... many new pics are included...
gim, be aware, if you get the expanded version of TFTO, the main version of RSOG included is the one from In A Word - with two extra minutes of music and wave sounds at the beginning... if you're a purist, you may want the 8.95 version...

Hi Gimsom!
The "remastered/expanded" edition of Tales is the one to get, IMHO.
The sound quality is much improved, and in addition to the bonus tracks, "The Revealing Science of God" is about 90 seconds longer...it has an intro that apparently was chopped off before the album was released, back in '73...
Now there is finally an affordable version of Tales on CD that sounds as clear and present as the original white-label promo album. Until finding that collectible, I'd NEVER heard a truly "great" pressing of Tales.....

Get yourself a good turntable and reasonable receiver and speakers and buy the thing on vinyl. If you can get a mint-condition original pressing (none of
those thin recycled vinyl copys of copys of copys from the 80's), you'll be in
heaven.

I think the Rhino reissue is the one to get but I also really like the Atlantic remaster from the late 90s which I have on Digalog cassette tape.

In my opinion the Rhino remaster has far better sound quality than the earlier CD version. I can hear things I never heard before and I enjoy it a lot more.

I bought the Rhino Version because it has a much better sound than the older CD-version. It is worth the extra money.

The odd thing is at a record store I go to here in Ottawa called Record Runner, they were selling the Rhino Tales for 10 dollars cheaper than the old Atlantic remaster.

I purchased the re-masters for the extra tracks but they're no match for the '70s vinyl when it comes to audio quality. I regularly pick up '70s vinyl in mint condition for pennies - I can't believe people are still willing to part with this stuff!

I have a mint vinyl copy of Yessongs with all the original packaging and it sounds better than alot of cds I own audio quality wise. There's hardly any static or pops either, it's pretty much prestine.
I think the best sounding vinyl in my collection though would have to be my Japanese copy of the Who's Odds and Sods.

Not that I was at all surprised, but the Rhino remaster kicks a$$. Another outstanding job by Rhino.

Yes, you'll want to get the Rhino version. The cardboard case is orgasmic...

The Tales remaster (Rhino) is a vast improvement over earlier attempts, as is the case with CttE, Fragile, The Yes Album, Drama, and Tormato. The "bonus" material is interesting but non-essential.
