Only a personal one, but anyway.

I'm a fan of all eras of Yes, and I do listen to all of it from Yes up to Magnification. And I've realized that, from The Yes Album-GFTO is probably my favorite era of music, but I prefer Trevor Rabin's guitar playing from 90125-Talk.

Anybody else feel the same? Different? Indifferent?

Just wondering if I'm alone in this opinion.

Even Yes's worst is better than most bands' best.

I like a little of everything, but these are the periods of their music I liked the best. And these are the albums I own. Throw in Drama too.

The Yes Album
Fragile
Close To The Edge
Yessongs
Tales From Topographic Oceans
Relayer

90125
Big Generator
Union
YesYears
Talk

Trevor's guitar playing is well.......eargasmic!
He's amazing to say the least! :guitar:

And I haven't heard a thing past the Talk album.
I wouldn't even recognize any of the songs if I heard them.

I like Mr Rabin's work. Does he have a website yet?

The post-Talk stuff really surprised me. I'd read from a few people that The Ladder and Magnification, etc. were more catering to the 70s Yes fans than actually new music. I found a lot of stuff on The Ladder that wouldn't fit in any other album though, like the Latin-esque vibe of "Lightning Strikes." Magnification sounds like classical music with a rock band! Really cool breaks and orchestration.

PM an email addy to me and I'll see about sending an mp3 or two your way if you want, Cindy. Or anyone else, for that matter.

Nope. It used to be up about 3 years ago and I really loved it, but it disappeared.

It seems like everytime I go to the theatre Trevor's name is in the credits somewhere. On TV too. He is a busy fellow.

I know I'd recognize Jon's voice of course. Magnification will probably be one that I buy in the near future.

Its really cool to hear the interplay between Chris and Alan with the Trooper-era approach. Trevor left but his impact is still with Yes.:)

From the studio albums I probably like the Fragile to GFTO run the best of all. I used to really prefer the precision and sound quality of the studio albums to the live albums. There are also many songs from 90125, BG and Talk that I like a lot (probably Real Love is my all time favorite from this era in the studio, but Rhythm of Love and Owner and a few others are great too). Now post-Yes West, several songs from The Ladder and Magnification I also like a lot. But I find now I often prefer the live performances, and songs that I never really appreciated on the studio albums take on a new meaning performed live. Case in point, I was not that fond of GFTO (the song) nor Turn of the Century, but on the Tsongas DVD they blew me away. As far as Trevor's guitar playing, I think he kicked *** live, but I don't really like his approach to Trooper era songs. But a great musician absolutely.

I am listening to some live Talk tour stuff now. Rabin just plain tears it up (good) on the stuff. I just love his work on so many of the tunes. Sure I am a sucker for his blaring play but I love the fill work he does throughout the tunes.

I wish they would release something from the Talk tour. The boots I have, the harmonies are not the best in spots.

He really should have a website up. That would be very interesting.
