I have been listening alot lately to KTA 2 and I must say - it is a remarkable performance. I think as a complete entity, the live material on this album rivals Yesshows and Yessongs in quality of performance. What an incredible phenomenon the whole three-night event in SLO was! It is surprising that it insn't even more legendary than it is. I also can only wonder what the band might have produced in the later part of the 90's if the line-up had remained together. The studio tracks are (mostly) strong, too.

I've heard that there were extensive overdubs on the live tracks - does anyone know about this?

I do believe that there were some studio fixes but it doesn't take away from the enjoyment of it for me. If people want to listen to flubs and stuff they can get unofficial material that's circulating. Why anyone would fault the band for wanting to put out the best product they could is beyond me.

The version of AYAI on there is probably the weakest I have ever heard, mostly due to Steve's steel guitar not "singing" over the music like it should. It sounds almost "anemic" to me....otherwise, I have no problem with Keys...In fact it has one of my favorite versions of Starship Trooper on it....

The KTA live bits were just that. Live bits and studio bits. There was extensive over-dubs, as well as parts of songs from different shows being combined ect. Billy did an amazing job at fixing these really BAD recordings. I think it turned out well really, I still listen to them and enjoy them. But knowing what I know about them, makes me wince, as they're about as fake a live performance as they could be, without being a complete sham.......

I'm sorry to burst your bubble..... You know I love this band, and I kudo them all the time. But I've got to be honest and call a spade a spade.... It was jsut a really bad idea to try and do 3 concerts with a band that hadn't played together in years, with almost no rehearsal time, and expect a stellar set of tapes to use. But like I said I listen to it, it does have merit......

The best this version of the band played live was the tormato tour in the round. Keys is special as it showed yes still had legs as was moving again.

Kind of like what is needed now!
