What's your favorite song or moment on The Word is Live?
Here's my top 3:
1) Perpetual Change in the medly: hot fast tempo, incredible drumming, this really surges along!
2) Moraz solo in Soundchaser: Patrick's playing here is great, but it's the rhythm section that really keeps this cooking. this is Yes in thrall with the Mahavishnu Orchestra
3) Pedal steel solo at the start of Gates section in the medly: smokin' tone, great slides, quintessential Steve Howe!

I haven't decided which is my favourite song on here yet. But, I absolutely love Roundabout on here. When I originally saw it was to be on the Disc I suppose I was like others and thought "not another version of Roundabout". I am so glad they put it on, I think it is storming and my all time favourite version/recording of the song. Whenever I listen to Roundabout on here it's like I'm actually there, singing and clapping, absolutely brill!

Damn it....I can't pick just one or two. - I like them all.
Hey anyway, it's a kind of a best of; so of course, all the songs are good.
One thing I especially appreciate, is listening to Sweet Dreams from Queens Park Rangers Stadium (1975) after having listened to the 2004 version so often for a while now. The difference between Wakeman and Moraz's work is refreshing and interesting.

Hard to choose....but I'm finding myself playing AMERICA off disc 1 a lot. I love this even longer version of Paul Simon's classic. And it's kind of cool to hear some riffs that found their way into ROUNDABOUT near the end.
Coming in second place is the Rascals cover IT'S LOVE. I never heard this before buying TWIL. In fact, I don't remember hearing The Rascals' version.

Hey Rob
If you like this version of America you should look for the one floating around from Berlin in June of '71. Its even longer, with a different coda that's totally gonzo and screamin'. the band's performance from Berlin is tighter too, IMHO. This version is often attached to the New Haven '71 weed. The Crystal Palace stuff on TWIL sounds great and is dfinitely exciting, but its a little sloppy and sluggish compared to New Haven, which was at the end of a tour. There was a few week's break then before the Crystal Palace show, and it shows!

A little late, this reply, but I've only just bought TWIL...
I really like Sweet Dreams. I remember seeing the excerpt from it on the YesYears DVD for the first time and liking this superheavy Howey version very much.
The original wasn't half bad, but here they've r-e-a-l-l-y pumped and pimped it up! What a great truckload of noise. Jon can barely be heared, even though he's screaming from the top of his longs.
Too bad it's not in stereo.
