Hi all,
I'm writing on behalf of myself and my wife. We're both mad keen Yes fans (the latter, I'm happy to say, was converted when she met me!). We are also both professional musicians here in Adelaide, South Australia (probably the worst place to even think about being a musician let alone actually trying it!). Cheryl's a pianist/accompanist and I'm an organist. I also have a small collection of synths and keyboards and have been playing in various bands for over 15 years.
Cheryl and I were at the Melbourne 2003 Yes show and it numbers among a few most ecstatically amazing events of our lives. In fact, it's up there with our wedding day and the birth of our first son on the "emotionally euphoric" meter (our second son was conceived a few hours after the Melbourne gig!!:winknudge ).
Even more recently, we were in Melbourne again for Rick's farewell show. Another monumentous occasion. We also got to meet afterwards for a quick chat, handshake, photos, autographs, etc, etc. I was gald to have thought ahead onthat score as one of the items he signed for me was the top C key from one of my synths. I am now the proud owner of a "Rick Wakeman Signature Edition Prophet VS synthesiser." (Of course, if I had a MiniMoog, it would have been that but sadly I don't - and since Bob's sad and untimely death, I don't fancy my chances now!!). Rick's been my musical hero for most of my life so it was a brilliant evening all up.
Anyway, we're looking forward to sharing info with like-minded folk. You may find we'll lurk most of the time but we'll makes post when we can.
Regards,
Matthew and Cheryl Atherton
