YES indeed-ily

Thought I'd say hello & give you a brief Yesstory...
During the days of vinyl, I was in the process of joining Columbia House, but I was still one album short. Every selection included a mini-pic of its album cover, and that's when I noticed Yes' Drama...I knew nothing about Yes except for "Roundabout", "Your Move", and "Long Distance Runaround", but the album cover kinda intrigued me & I figured "what the hell, I'll take a chance". I liked it well enough, but for awhile I assumed Trevor Horn was always Yes' vocalist....lol I suppose my status was "casual fan", since for the next decade my only purchases were 90125 & Classic Yes (along the way, I learned who that Jon Anderson guy was, 'tho).
I guess the reason for my casual status was because I got the feeling that I "missed the boat"...while I liked 90125 (and Big Generator too), I just didn't have the urge to rush out & buy tix to any of their shows, mainly because I was more partial to the material on the Drama & Classic Yes albums.
Flash forward to the Union tour...a buddy of mine bought six tickets for our little group,, and I didn't need much persuasion 'cuz I learned Howe & Bruford were gonna be on hand (although I got a little nervous when I heard the Union album...oh, the agony). Long story short: I was blown away from the get-go, but "Awaken" sealed the deal. My friends & I probably floated out of the venue....we unanimously agreed that we just witnessed one of the best concerts ever. Of course, I stocked up my Yes collection the next day (even picked up YesYears), and probably annoyed the neighbors for the rest of the summer.
Since then, I've caught shows on the Talk, Ladder, Masterworks, Symphonic, and '02 tours. Missed OYE (already had commitments for another concert the same night) and the 35th Anniversary tour (too many reasons to explain here, none of 'em positive) but the Tsongas DVD is helping fill that void...
So thank you Columbia House for slowly but surely getting the ball rolling for me...see you on the boards!
