I picked up the DVD at J&R Music World in downtown Manhattan this afternoon. Couldn't wait to get home from work! I popped in the DVD this evening.
Disk 1 - Rejected! (Message says DVD might be "read only")
Disk 2 - Perfect
Anyone else having a problem?
(By the way...Disk 2 was absolutely incredible!)

Nope! Mine plays perfectly. Look and see if you have any dust on the disc.

I'm having a bit of trouble with disc #1. It sounds muffled.
Disc #2 is fine!

I'm listening in my fun room with my headphones right now and it seems as clean as anything I've ever heard. On my surround sound it sounded better but the stereo is just fine. Do you have it setup right Joe?
Kevin
Ya know, I'm gonna have to check that out tomorrow. It's after 11pm here and everyone is sleeping. Disc #1 I listened to this afternoon. And disc #2, I just finished. You could be right. But I better lower things down around the house..............for tonight!

I had the opposite problem disc 1 fine, disc 2 defective....I had to return my order TWICE to Amazon. They are now sending me a third copy and have assured me that both discs have been tested to ensure that they work.

I went to Best Buy tonight to buy the disk.
They had 25 of them on order.
However, the order was deleted.
The clerk couldn't explain why.
I wonder if this is the reason.

Why is this happening after all this time?
No-one is mentioning the picture quality and extras.
I have two ordered from separate places for weeks and it's a hassle to deal with this; both are different towns from mine. ouch.

It may be possible that the latest encryption code is messing with players and may not actually be defective discs at all. My players are both relatively new and not a single glitch on either disc.
As for bonus features the only thing I recall seeing is the Roger Dean interview on disc one. It wasn't worth the 10 minutes of film IMO. I love the concert though. There are some awesome moments especially for Steve. I can't recall when he was so into the music. The production values are high. The setlist is well balanced and evenly paced through the three hours. All in all I think this is the best YES DVD yet. It would be hard to surpass. It would be nice to see some of the previous tour on DVD besides what we see and hear on YesSpeak. I also wish that there was a complete concert from the Tours and Relayer period with that cool Roger Dean set. I recall Alan Farley saying in his book that we are still waiting for the "definitive" YES DVD. We may have just found it. I don't know how they could do better!
BTW...I'm exhausted today. I stayed up way too late watching the DVD and today I'm paying for it.

This would be an excellent CD to have as well.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm gonna output the sound from my DVD player into my input on my CD burner, and make a copy. I've done this with other DVDs. It works fine! You just have to pause at the end of each song, so you can have each song as a track.

I was also thinking the same thing. I was wondering if anyone knows how to rip the audio off the DVD without playing it through and capturing as a wave file.
BTW Joe..there is a cool FREE edit program called CDWave that you could use so you don't have the pauses. You capture the whole thing as one wave file and then use CDWave to cut the file at the appropriate place. Then use your burning software to burn disc at once with no 2 second gaps and voila!

Mine were both fine - and I picked it up at the same place. Just bring it back and get a replacement. You may want to ask them to play the new one before you bring it home.

BTW...in case any other members want to make a music CD from their DVD I found an extractor for about $30 on VideoHelp.com.
http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=DVD_Audio_Extractor
if you read what users say it seems that this program can discern the surround sound from the stereo track. So extract the stereo into a WAV file on your PC. Once you have the WAV file all you need to do is cut the file so you have tracks. You can use this FREE software to do that called CDWave.
http://www.milosoftware.com/cdwave/
I've used this many times to cut WAV files when archiving LPs onto disc and it works great.
Enjoy!

While this DVD has obviously been released, stores around here don't have it, and even the Best Buy site says it's not available in their stores but can be ordered.
What's up with this?
Btw, I'm hoping we don't have another HOB DVD scenario, where many people have defective discs that can't be replaced.

This concerns me the number of stores that aren't selling it. A friend of mine went into HMV in Birmingham Uk and could not find the DVD in stock, neither could he find Stev Howe's new DVD either!

Just started disk1 and it sounds really weak. Both the DTS and stereo version sound pathetic. The KOA and the HOB dvds are far superior in sound quality. Guess I will try disk2. Hope its better.

I don't think it's your disk:
For those who have weak sound or Steve's mix sounds weak - I had this problem when I first put in the disks. I went back and returned all my DVD player settings to normal, no effects, etc., made sure it was set up right, made sure the speaker size settings on my receiver were correct (because I have a kid that likes to play with them) and the problem went away. Perfect sound. It's your setup, you can fix it.

But look at the typos!
1. Jan Anderson on Vocals.
2. "Owner of a Lovely Heart".

I asked one to be held for me when in ( Aug 16, HMV Victoria) and phoned yesterday and they hadn't noted this at all. Someone else is getting my money, and closer to home, in case of defective. Grrrrrr.

Crap! I have a glitch on each disc!! I just finished watching the totally super And You And I and after the song, when Jon is talking, the picture freezes and stutters a bit, like when a DVD is changing layers. With 2 discs, I didn't expect dual layers. Disc 1 has a similar defect, but I've forgotten where. @%#&$@!!

I've been using DVD Decrypter for such things. It removes the region codes, copy protections , as well as being able to rip the audio from DVD's. No problems so far at all, it's very simple and FREE!
Get it here......
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_decrypter.cfm
Also here's a tip for the easy audio rip function:
DVD Decrypter (freeware) will do this, and I've used it many times for
this. This was from an email I sent someone asking the same question:
1. Change the mode to IFO mode (from the Mode Menu)
2. With disc inserted you should see an Input and Stream Processing
tab on the right hand side of the screen. The input tab is a list of
chapters, and you can select/de-select individual chapters. The right
hand panel is the Stream Processing. You need to check the "Enable
Stram Processing" box, and then click on the Audio track (depending
on the DVD, you may have more than one audio track. You probably want
the 2 channel stereo stream). Below the box, you should see a radio
button choice box, and you want to select Demux, instead of "Direct
Stream". If you wanted to strip the video into a seperate file, you
would have to to click on the video stream, and select Demux for that
one too.
3. Click the "rip" button and you should wind up with an audio track
on your disc. If it is an AC3 file, you will need to find another
freeware program BeSweet (and you will probably want the BeSweet Gui
as well) to convert the AC3 into WAV.

I get that with many discs that look perfect in WinDVD often after a few playings- NO rugrats here.

But what's the resulting sound quality of the .mp3 when played back on computer tower through stereo??
