Changes from 90125- my personal favourite from that song. I love the intro to it...that xylophone makes the song sound fairly upbeat, but I don't know if anyone else noticed the slightly melancholy acoustic guitar strumming away in the background...could the xylophone be representing the woman who "pretends to care" about the protagonist, when really the two don't care and are quite miserable- ie the sad acoustic guitar.

Just a thought. What do you all think of this song?

One of my absolute favorites. The first song I heard with Yes, except for Owner, at a friend's house five years ago. I was stuck immediately. A five star song without a doubt.

Or maybe the xylophone represents the man who's trying to walk to the woman who's trying to get away from him, while her sad face is showing disbelieve and misbehaviour from her past life where she was living as a housewife to a man who used to beat her up every saturday morning..

Just a thought...

It's my favorite song. I had CHANGES on my license plate.

I prefer Trevor's demo version of Changes that's on 90124, because it doesn't have that beginning. I don't like that part.

I think that part is as good as the rest of the song. It belongs there. But I know it sounds annoying for some people

That part is essential: hello? McFly? Its about CHANGES and they xylophone is CHANGING the time signature every other bar it seems like. Thats the theme. ;) I remember being in High School when this was a hit in the early days of MTV. I was in the band (lets not go there... ) and I remember some guys were just wild about it asking the music director to analyse the time changes at the start and he couldn't. It was funny.

And it also "Changes" from the Xylophone theme to the main guitar theme as well...

I guess I don't mind the xylophone at the very beginning, but it keeps going on and on and on and when it finally ends the timing just sounds off. It doesn't flow into the rest of the song. To me, it doesn't change very well. It's like waiting for Jack to pop out of the box.
