Well we have done the albums, now the DVD/videos. Lets see what we think about the quality of all these Yes visual offerings. Just give it your rating out of ten and eventually we'll be able to give our Yesfans combined opinion.

After a lot of tries, I got both DVD's on EBay. The first disc was a little disappointing. The sound mix was kind of funky, with Jon's instrument being too high up in the mix, among other things.

The music was very good, just mixed oddly.

The second disc is much better. They seem to have changed soundboard operator's in between the two. The mixing is much better and the song's are great.

Overall, a 7.

8...

as an historical document, it's incredible... band performances and song choices are excellent...

camera work is decent...

the only reason it's not a 10 is because the audio is atrocious throughout a good part of the show... towards the end it gets better, but there are still problems... Jon even acknowledges "a few buzzes" to the audience... as he starts All Good People, he suddenly stops and steps back, as a loud whoosh goes through the sound system... this is just one example... as I said, the sound is poor throughout...

Great footage, I don't like Moraz, but hey, can't always have rick I guess.

Sound is deeply flawed but what a fascinating document-steady camerawork in softly, beautiful twilight-allyoung+lean,astro looks fitter than peter andre,6 packs 'n'all!!
moraz bumps+grinds the keys, jon is on rythm electric(they don't let him do that nowadays!)fish has poodle boots on,moraz wears one on his head, hee, hee.sorry jon, never realised you played flute @ beginning of soundchaser(though pat mentioned it in yesstories)+tons of percussion....please dub new sound +rerelease this!!

A good historical piece. Totally agree with all the above.
But hey, it's a big step up from 'Live in Philly!"

It's a 10 for me.

I don't care about the imperfections - it's not an official release so I don't expect such a high standard. It's a real gem to have in your collection. I'd give Live in Philly a 10 too - if was a full concert.

Man, it has to be said it's a better document of the guys than Live In Philly for sure!
Captures more of the spirit of Yes, imo.
And the beautiful acoustic "Long Distance"....the lovely Moraz piano solo....it's a good one.
I only have it on Video. Need to trade up to a DVD set soon!

Hah, I wouldn't even bother, until some cleaning up is done on the sound. If that'll ever happen. Can YES get rights to this and remaster it?

That says it all. For me it was a 'must have'.

QPR was my first Yes gig and remains the best.

I would have loved to have seen this concert in the flesh for two reasons.
1/ I support QPR football team and 2/ They seemed to be at the peak of their live performances. When I watch this concert, I see the band cooking up a storm, Jon banging away on percussion and every member seeming to have a great time. The set list was also top notch!!! Shame I was only 3 years old though!!!!!

they also feature jon on mixed up rythm guitar or is that rythm guitar up in the mix??!!heehee...seems nowadays he plays something onstage but you never quite hear it!!!

Yes Pedro, I think Jon used up all his alloted 'guitar volume' on that show.
Isn't it funny that the 'mix' is so obvious to us but not to the engineer on the board at the time.

The first disc is pretty F'd up sound wise..

It gets corrected somewhere towards the end of the first disc and then the second disc is amazing..the picture is crystal clear though throughout.

A great set-list too!!!

I'll give it an 8

I have noticed that this DVD is out of print. But I have also noticed a UK "Special Collectors Edition" of the "The Word is Live" that includes both QPR discs. has anyone else seen this?

Yep. I just picked this up. I don't have another version to compare with but this version looks good - the odd whizz line of digital noise so not perfect but not bad - sound is not great but adequate. Boths parts on one DVD.

There's nothing anywhere on the nice packaging that states origin.

I'll watch this on a large screen and report back but so far I'm glad I didn't buy the Asian VCD.

A nine. This is by far the most fascinating DVD of YES in concert, even if the sound on disc one is a bit sub-par. Still, it's great to see YES in their prime doing songs like Gates, Ritual and Sound Chaser. (Also, you get to see the frightening plastic monster crab.)

I gave it a nine. I love this set. The first disc sound problems are far outweighed by the awesome setlist. Ritual is tops!

To me it was worth every penny of the ridiculous price paid for each disc seperately. I'd take off a point and a half for Jon's guitar being too loud on a lot of disc one and what I think might have been a slightly uninspired organ solo in Roundabout, and give it back a point and half just for being some great footage of vintage Yes with a killer setlist, so that's a 10 in my book.
