Well we have done the albums, now the DVD/videos. Lets see what we think about the quality of all these Yes visual offerings. Just give it your rating out of ten and eventually we'll be able to give our Yesfans combined opinion.

again, like Yessongs, way too short... conceptuals dominate... you get used to them, but it'd probably be better if they weren't there...

That's the only part of this video I enjoyed. The "UFO" at the beginning, the "tracking" during ISAGP, even the stupid reference to Big Generator was funny. The best tho was the creepy atomic bomb test video and the stop motion on Chris. The concert itself was a real snore. The bare industrial metal stage, set the lights on medium boring and just play mostly the Rabin tunes from 90125, not my idea of the ideal YES experience. -I probably would left after Your Move.

Unfortunately I can't vote because I've never seen the video. I think the DVd may be available through a Brazillian bootleg company but as far as I can tell it's being officially re-released on DVD October 18th in the States. So, I'm waiting for that. I have heard the CD and enjoy it though.

I think it's good. I agree it, would be better if it was longer and no so much of the arty stuff, just straight forward footage of the concert. But, unlike some Trooper types I really enjoy this video. It's not up there with Symphonic but still an 8 out of 10.

I think most 'fans' would have 'issue' with those Steven Soderberg additions, but for a record of the period, - I like it lots! Remember that's what video's looked like in the 80's.
Unlike many Northern Hemisphere folk, we in the deep South had no opportunity to see YES at all, so we have to rely on shows like this one. Otherwise it's those horrible video to DVD attempts of the 90125 tour like the Landover video. Now that's a terrible one!
One sentimental reason to like 9012Live; my football team were winning the 1984 Grand Final (Essendon, Bombers) at the same time that 9012live show was being performed. Still, I would have rather been at Edmonton than cheering at the Melb. Cricket Ground.
So it's dated.... Big deal. It's still one of my favourites.

I gave it an 8. I'd be a 10 if they didn't have all that junk in it. The band is on fire. The video parts suck.

I liked it better 20 years ago when it would air on MTV... Music is great, of course, but all the conceptual stuff is boring crap, IMO.

I like this DVD. When it first came out on VHS, I played it to death.. literally. The tape is so worn out that its hardly watchable.. I do have the South Americain DVD now

I like all the arty stuff ! I do notice that as the show goes on there is less and less of it. I think the stage is very cool. It was what the band where all about at that time. I also love when the lighting rig droops down to show the 90125 logo on the top of it right at the end

I gave it 7 out of 10, mainly because its way too short. My only other critisism is the too much makeup the band are wearing.. Again, its just a sign of the times.

My rating is 9. Why only 9 not 10? Not 10 because it's to short. It's just an excerpt from an whole concert. The Reason could be that they wanted to make an concert movie. It's no surprising that they played a lot of the 90125 material because Rabin was the main person. The Songs are very good and my personal favourite is the starship trooper version Trevor Rabin did a very good job in this song. I'm looking forward for the dvd release.

I sure hope the news item about 9012Live on Yesworld isn't getting my hopes up for nothing!
The Brazillian edition I have is in mono and isn't top picture quality. So the prospect of a proper release, with the option to view the show without those Soderberg extras - certainly has me excited!

the concert footage is actually quite good... they were using camera cranes extensively by then, and have a variety of interesting angles... the industrial stage set is a separate issue from the video - they used that for the entire tour... it'll be nice to see what the band are doing when all that stock footage covered up their performances... the Big Generator bit at the end is a nice bit of foreshadowing...

...well as far as I'm aware it's not out on DVD yet. But the good news is that those (including myself) moaning about the crappy visuals, there will be TWO options on the DVD, there is a choice apparently to watch the DVD with or WITHOUT the arty visuals.

The Image Entertainment website says that it will be released on April 18 of this year!
The Director`s Cut with extra`s!

And true the visuals were crappy, but if it is the only release, i`ll buy it just the same!
It was trendy it those days.

Ya know, with the Director's Cut you DON'T have to sit through the cheesy 80's style graphics. Just open your menus and go to bonus or extras or whatever thery're calling it. Then select the (non-charlex) version of the film - which is basically the concert itself. I haven't once watched it with the FX.

I was disappointed with it to be honest. I'm no YES expert by a long chalk, but they seem to be going through the motions a bit to me. They don't look like a band. Jon looks bored stiff.

I do like the album a lot. I think Changes is one of my favourite YES tracks, but this live show doesn't really do anything for me at all.

Sorry.

I voted 9. I'm with others here who don't care for all the 80s graphics. Thankfully that's remedied by the director's cut on the newer version, which is a much, much better view, in my opinion. I'm not a big fan of some of the clothes (but can tolerate that as a product of the era), and the end of Starship Trooper is dragged out way too long, but otherwise I quite like the director's cut version of 9012Live.

It doesn't have Wakey in it. Don't bother.

Wakey was funny at the end of Yes - Greatest Video Hits, which has interview footage from the 'Union Tour' spliced in. He's being interviewed and has the cards for each song he's being asked about. As he looks down at one, he realizes that he never played on the studio of version of the song. He makes a comment, then throws the card. Looks at the next card, and again it's something he hadn't played on. He throws the card. This goes on 3 or 4 times until he's thrown the last card and he walks away. I was laughing so hard I cried.

Yes, that was excellent. It's where I got my sig line from.

I'm very glad that the DVD gives the option to switch off the graphics. The behind the scenes stuff is quite something too, alot of Spinal Tap come to life moments throughout.

The performances are pretty solid, it's a shame they couldn't have thrown in Hearts as it was played the night the show was taped.

I recall enjoying this a lot when I saw it on MTV in the 80s so I'll likely buy it when I come across it.

I think its great... something very powerful (in a Rockin' sense) about the band when Trevor was there. Talk tour is even better.

Interesting time for the band... I like the behind the scenes footage too.
