View Full Version : A Trip Down Memory Lane

Let's step into a time machine and go back to when this site was young...

In 2001!

With the help of the Wayback Machine (http://www.waybackmachine.org) (warning: very slow, if not reacting try the mirror at http://archive.bibalex.org, although not as complete).

Here's our beloved site on April 14, 2001 (careful, large image 1258 x 1722 pixels, 230 kb):

And here's the look from September 26, 2001. Notice the "new members" kellyyesfan and Earl Grey

Cool Umgy

Yeah, it sure has changed a lot.

My first communication was when I started a thread about how Rabin never should have left and this guy responded to it (he's not here anymore) and I was hooked. That, and playing the old lyric game with another ex member.

I finally got to meet some of the "old guys" in June and hopefully will meet others as the summer and fall progress.Something really cool is to get to finally know people who've been here as long as I have but never really known. That's happened in a few instances lately and for the most part been great.

That does bring back memories!!

That IS a trip!

Things certainly have changed. Tim and I were here wondering if this place would fly. I'd say it took off rather well.

Interesting side note, the moderators listed on that first page haven't been around for a long time.

Thank you for posting that umgy. Very interesting. I'd say this thread deserves a sticky.

Yesfans sure is an evolving community - people come and go for various reasons yet at the same time there is a core of names and faces (by photos and gatherings) that hold it together very tightly.

Yeah, Brian, it's a place where friends meet.

They have my join date (10/1/03), but for some reason the server is banned at work.

I'll have to check it out when I get home.

Umgy, how do you do it ?

This brings back old memories. I remember when I first visited Yesfans right after Yessymphonic in Paris (Nov 26 2001). I registered 2 days after but did not even dare to post. And now I am a moderator here. I just can't believe it !

Well Flo, I opened the site that had been archived by the Wayback Machine and captured it as a picture :)

These are so cool to look at, It seem slike so long ago.

Definately makes me smile to think back, but I love today even more because the friendships have so evolved since then.
