(This has no doubt been posted somewhere but Im not looking for it because it would take me all year)
I estimate that by the end of the year there will be another 720 members in yes fans. thats from the start of August to the end of December.
I worked this out by making an approximate no of days since yesfans started and how many members it currently has. Then I divided the number of fans by the no of days and that gave me about 4 members joining everyday.
I then worked out the number of days left in the year and multiplied that by 4 which gave me approx 720.
I also worked out that there are currently 2091 members that havent posted.
I am aware that quite a few still use the site even though they dont post but 2091 is a large amount of people dont you think?

Out of the number of "active" members, that's not a big number.
In the past 5 years, people joined and then either got busy, or decided it wasn't their cup of tea.

An some none posting members just came in to look around and left
or are like my husband and just don't post but like to see what I'm up to
And here is a problem for your number of people joining. Many more people join when a tour is going on. No tour = a bunch fewer new members until the tour is rescheduled.

And also when a tour is NOT going on. Quite a lot of new folk arrived when the "We won't Make a Crisis out of a Drama" tour was cancelled to try and find out what was going on. Maybe they will stick around.

We have quite a few 'lurkers' of note on the site as well...
I personally know a few, they check-in and read what's up, but never speak a word... Funny That!

Actually, there have been many more members than that as about 6-12 months ago Tim removed all members that had been inactive for a long time. From memory there were around a thousand removed.

O.K. I admit it! I'm a "lurker", but I don't want to be. I've only been a member for a couple of weeks or so, and still struggling with the old "keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, or open it and leave no doubt" (heavily paraphrased...). I resolve to post. How bad can it be?

Yes it's kind of funny. I get lots of PM's from people who have joined but never posted. They say that they just want to say hi to me. One said they didn't know how to post. I thought it was strange that they knew how to send a PM and not know how to make a post.

That IS weird!
It's similar to belonging to a gym club or diet club.
We go for the same reason!!.--Some give up on first visit, some give up after a couple of visits, some get tired of the same routine,(like me)!, and come back occasionally(like me).--And there's those who like it enough to stay with it all day!!--Nothing wrong with that!!--You still get something out of it!!
It's good eitherway's!!---1 third of 3 participation is good!!!!!!!!!!!
There's plenty of room for reasons, as they really don't mean that much anyhows(in most cases)!!---Just being here with our common bond is a good thing!!---It's not the amount that matters.---It's what's said!!

This site is too big for me to be much of a major poster. My favorite forum is eBassist-one main forum.
Have people gotten banned from Yesfans?

This site is great. In the 3 1/2 months ive been here ive had tons of new music sent to me. It makes me feel guilty somewhat as i have no rarities to exchange back.
everyone is a good person on this site and those that get banned do so deservedly.

What I think is weird is the fact that Niel joined the same day as I did (about 1 hr before) and him and I have posted quite a few posts and are regular visitors to the site, and yet you can go for literaly 10's of pages and there is hardly anyone who posts.
What are the chances?
And we are both from the UK (More US, etc than UK members) and he lives not far from me!

Hey! I never knew that. The reason my post count is so high is that a while back (june) I had 3 weeks off work sick with nothing much to do except surf the net, watch t.v etc and now I have had another 3 weeks off work (summer shut down). Besides, this is one of the few forum boards on the net where your posts are responded to very quickly. OK many of my posts are in the games forums but so what! Im enjoying myself!!

Don't feel that way MoreThanfondOfRobin. Have fun with the site and let your personality shine. I've come to know many people in this forum and believe me when I tell you they are wonderful!

It is a bit weird aint it!
Im always messing (looking) about with the user cp and other stuff because thats what I do best. (mess)
And I was looking at the Yesfans and saw my username and just below (indicates that you joined slightly before) is you. If you were to look on pages before or after for about 10 pages either side you would see hardly anyone that has posted!
I don't post as much as I could or want to but that is because I am usually tired and can't think strait or don't know what to say in some 'adult'/'older' :1quiet:conversations that are going around the forums .
That doesn't stop me from looking though :eeek:

Hey Dale posting is fun
Most of us don't bite unless you go into the political thread.
Sunburstbasser you don't have to be a major poster to have fun. Go a head and post were and when you will
You have to have been very abusive to be banned.
The people who have been banned were given many warnings and continued to abuse the site or site members. I have to really try hard to do it.
So don't worry post and have fun.
Homeworld you don't have to think straight to post. I'm living proof of that;)
For the newbies
Just because someone doesn't respond to your posts doesn't mean that they aren't being read and appreciated. We (those of us that have been here awhile) would have to chain ourselves to the computer to manage that.

That's how I am. I'm home a lot of the time so I come here in between scrubbing floors, doing laundry, baking, running to the store. I'm here a lot at night before I go to bed. I'd rather be here than watching TV.
And you're right you do get responses quickly so if I'm talking back and forth to someone the post count goes up. I play in the games forum so that counts too. A lot of people only go to a few threads. I'm usually all over the place.

I was wondering. I have Yesfans for my homepage so when I log on with Internet Explorer Yesfans automatically pops up. My son will do this when he wants to check his email or go online and it takes him here first. Does this log me in to Yesfans for a certain amount of time or not, because people think I'm here when I'm not. It's actually my son. Does this question make any sense to anyone. I've always wanted to ask it.

Yeah it will show you as logged on to the site, plus it will count as a visit so next time you come on and choose "post since last visit" it will only pick up the new posts since your son was last on. That is assuming you don't have to log in every time you come to the site, and it does it automatically.

It makes a lot of sense.
Lat week I was online here one morining and had to go and get something printed(i have no printer) so i went up to the library, logged on the net, printed the thing i needed and whilst i was waiting logged on to yesfans, only to find myself still online!
I had shut down the computer and turned the power off and all but the thing i forgot was to log out!! I dont know if that makes any sense, sometimes i just click the x in the top right hand corner, but that makes you look online too when you log back on. I dont know!

For me, to write a post in a Yes forun it's a exciting experience. Since I'm brazilien (apologize, but this country has his history too) and I'm don't understand english enough, you can think the same about others Yes fans from around the world. For me its happiness to read the messages, actually most of that from United States.
I was not suppose that about 35 years old I will think of myself like a young man...That's how I feel, like a student!!

Well, I'm 46 years old, and sometimes I have to remind myself that I am middle aged. Other times, I don't feel quite so spry.
