This has been done before but not in a way to keep track of the scores - hopefully this will overcome that by allowing you to choose one score per album.
You can base your evaluation on any version of the album.

I've been playing this quite a bit lately, especially the Alternate Generator bootleg. Shoot High, Aim Low is the highlight for me, but also like Rhythm of Love and Love Will Find A Way. Gave it a 7.

Not as good as 90125 - And should have came out alot sooner than 1987. More like 86 or 85. As Chris has stated before in interviews. "Shoot High", ROL, LWFAW, HL, Final Eyes - Are the songs I listen to most. Some of the others like "I'm Running" I have to skip.

Aww, I love I'm Running! The whole calypso beat really gets you moving. I love Almost Like Love-now there's one to move to! I gave it an 8, deducting a point as I remember that awful video for LWFAW.

Gee we're just the opposite.
I love the Love Will Find A Way video. Trevor looked goooooood!
I gave Big Generator a 9. I didn't like I'm Running and Almost Like Love.

The absolute worst of all the yeswest albums. I give it a "0". Only trauma is lower at a -10 and OYE at -5.

Has to be good with 'Shoot High, Aim Low' in the list.
I prefer 'Love Will Find a Way' to the all-time most famous 'Owner.' I only wish that this one had propelled the band instead.
'Final Eyes' works wonders for me too.
This was the last YES album to get air-play on Melbourne's commercial radio. Pity!

Get rid of Holy Lamb and I've got another perfect 10, but for different reasons than 90125. A great set of songs, even if a bit more experimental. Rhythm of Love would be my number one pick here if not for I'm Running! Good god, is that piece of music simply incredible. This may indeed be Trevor's best with Yes. It is an outstanding combination of musical lines and styles that combine lyric and instrument in a truely moving way for me. YesWest continues to amaze and impress me!

gave it a seven...
i like it better than 90125....
and I'm Running is a great piece.... but as a bass player, i have a predjudice towards songs that feature Chris and slick bass lines.... so much of Yeswest didn't allow Chris to shine, so that makes I'm Running extra special.

A firm 8! This album rocks! It would have been more succesful when it had been released 1 or even 2 years earlier.
Yessongs72' 0 rating can't be taken seriously, come on, a 0? Fool!

Gave it a 9 for the work put into it, the musicians who created it, the constant fights with A&R representatives, management and accountants who probably helped make this album a living hell to make it, and for the 8 songs I feel truly shine on this album, and all the things Holy Lamb could have been.

I gave it a 7.
I love ROL, Shoot High, and I'm Running. I always considered Holy Lamb the end part of I'm Running.
LWFAW and BG are Ok. Almost Like Love and Final Eyes I can do without.

I've given it 6 but it was almost a 7. I really like side 2 (I'm Running is brilliant) but not so keen on side 1 esp. the title track. I actually prefer it to 90125.

Seems to suffer from lack of direction and over production even though content itself is relatively good. A few songs are weak or not particularly yess-ish.

I like this album very drum-oriented, like Almost Like Love, Shoot High. And wherever I listen to Love Will A Way I think of U2...Anyways...oh and Rthym of Love is good to and Big Generator is like a crazy psychedelic heavy metal rock song and a wierd and contorted bassline that sounds like Owner in a weird way.
UMMM
Final Eyes sound like Finalize eh???
I love Final Eyes it has a AYAI type rthyhmness to it
I'm Running I like it (I'm sooo minority here) I like the fake ending its soooo cool.
Holy Lamb is a good Jon type song, like Take the Water to The Mountain.
So I'm gonna give this a "8"

I give it a 2--there are only two songs on the album that I will even listen to.

This was one of my favorite summer albums of all time, let's see, '87, so I would've been 17 at the time, and could ask for anything better than Love Will Find A Way and Rhythm Of Love with the windows down? And the real bonus was, this was a hit, so people actually knew what you were playing! I know lots of people don't find this inspiring, but I gotta give it an 8, for the great summer. Also, I was swooning in love, and the lyrics LWFAW were an absolute Godsend. My only real problem with it was the production, it was very compressed, and Squires bass had none of the low end that would have made Rhythm and LWFAW so good. (think of that last note on LWFAW). Great memories from this.

Sorry, I gave it a "0". It's just because it's not really YES music. YES stopped making THEIR music after Going for the One, and it was only after Keys to Ascension that they began making it again. The "in between" albums (90125, Big Generator, etc) contain good music but not really YES music. I'm glad they just played one song from that "era" in their 35th Anniversary concerts.

Oh my, oh my. It may not be the "Yes" music you want to hear, but it is "YES" music.

9.
I prefer it to 90125 but it isn't as good as Talk.
I don't like the opening to Rhythm of Love much. I figure one Beach Boys is enough. After that, I skip Almost Like Love usually but the rest is enough to give it a 9.
Love Will Find A Way is easily my all-time favorite guitar lick. Trevor's playing on this album also propels it along a lot. This album, overall, is what makes me consider Trevor the best guitarist Yes ever had.

This album gets better everytime I hear it. While I still prefer 90125 and wish for no Holy Lamb, I agree that Trevor puts on one he** of a clinic throughout this album. I don't think anything can touch his multiple styles of guitar playing on I'm Running. This album is what makes me consider Trevor to be the best guitarist Yes ever had, as well.

How many versions are there??
I got the audio cassette tape when released or a bit after and now have the CD;
wasn't my fave for a whilebut I love it now- missed the tour but I have some on the VHS tape colection of Yes studio vids, YAY.
Aim high, shoot funny and don't skimp on the pistachios.

I love the Love Will Find A Way video. Trevor looked goooooood!
You sound like my mom. She loved Trevor during that time - especially when he wore his leather pants.
As for the video the best part is when Chris turns around with the harmonica in his mouth. It is hilarous!
Ever notice Jon's guitar has no strings!

While not a masterpiece at all, I'd give the album a solid 8. I feel this album is really unfairly maligned. There's not too much weak stuff on it, if any...

Wow, Laney! Tell us what you really think! LOL
Well, while not as harsh as Laney, I too am not a HUGE fan of this album. Because it's Yes, and remembering what the 80's were like musically, I'll give it a six.
I just recently listened to this one after a LONG LONG time collecting dust up in the attic. As soon as Rhythm of Love began, I could not believe just how bad the drums are. Sounds like Alan smacking his sticks against a cereal box and an occasional trash can lid! I think that is the thing that really annoys me throughout this album is Alan's drums, with the exception of a few songs (Love Will Find A Way, I'm Running, Shoot High Aim Low come to mind). Add Final Eyes to that list and those sum up my favorite tracks.
For those who keep touting Trevor's work on this album: it's not all that great! And he'll never be the best guitarist Yes ever had, that spot is occupied by his predecessor/succesor. Howe does he spell his name again???

I really like this album, I enjoy every track to degree and I especially like the three longform pieces. I'm going with a 7.5 rating. I agree with Nitrus, this album is unfairly berrated. I'd have to say I like Almost Like Love better as a Yes out of character track than Lightening Strikes and prefer the final three tracks back to back over the studio version of Endless Dream.

I'm sorry, but I feel that "Big generator" was a clear, but not successful attempt to bis the success of "90125". While "90125" in my opinion is a great album, fresh in inspiration and never boring, "Big generator" tries to propose the same formula, but with results that sound to my ear even too much commercial to be considered a "Yes" album.. The only songs I save are "Rhythm of love" (commercial but so funny with those "Beachboysh" vocalisms), "Love will find a way" (i.e. "Changes part 2"..) and "I'm running" (the only attempt they made to create something properly prog..): I cannot listen to the rest of the album, completely uninspired and similar to any AOR material available in those years..

Concur with most of the above, except that real Yes carried on for one more album (most of Tormato is great). Also,I would not even say that the "inbetween" albums were good music. As a long standing fan of Classic Yes,that decade and a half was a nightmare for me.Things bucked up dramatically with KTA,but then spoilt again with Magnification's horrible orchestra and lack of the integral sound of proper keyboards.
BG gets a big Z from me.
