Here I am, up at 4:30 AM est...can't sleep. Going down to the studio in the basement and plugging in to my old:
Alesis Quadraverb looped in to a Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp.
Getting tired of the noise..Last night was direct into an old Peavey Classic 50 (all tube) Pre and post set to 12, reverb to 12,
all mid and treble at 0, presense at 4. Great, smooth but cutting kick butt tone.
All done with a GR 505, guitar send only.
May the gods of the fingers running the fretboards smile at me this AM.

I to use peavey but i prefer my kustom amp sytem. i also have a few yahamha synths and organs (5 i think maybe 6) also a ludwig drumset (relic from the 70's) (by the way is that the correct spelling of the word I Think so but it doesn't look right) and an ovation 6 string (looks like trevor rabins and sounds fantastic especially on the acoustic part of I've seen all good people and turn of the cetury as well as Excerts From Tales From Topographic Oceans) i am in the market for an ibanez GXR07 (Rabin used it on city of love on 9012live) A 70s strat, A tele that looks like Howe (what tele does he use) and a Rouge 12 string.

Mac,
I go through these phases, sometimes thinking the peavey is great and sometimes think it is junk!! One thing is true...I have never just turned it on and had great tone. Always tweaking...where with the boogie...well...MONSTER TONE...very easily. I just plugged into the peavey 'cause it was there and I haven't used it in a while....and the Boogie was not plugged in.
Question for you...the tone that Steve gets on Parallels...how did he do it? It sounds like the es-335, major overdrive with all the high end rolled off....Any thoughts?

I use Vox amps, 60's tube AC/30 and AC15 and some 60's solid state (Royal Guardsman and Viscount) and others, although I find myself using a Valvetronix most often. The tape delay is the closest digital I've found to the old ekoplex sound and the amp nails many of the classic Howe tones. For guitars I use Martin, Fender, Epiphone and Rickenbacker but I'm lusting after a ES175.

I would say yes to this except that some of the feedback at the end of Steve's phrasings sounds "hollow" and "pick/thumb pinched". This sound is typical with the hollowbody.
Anyone else have insight?
