Great! It's the kind of music for any age.

So, what's the first song you ever remember hearing, and the most recent song you listened to?

Hi Jason. You live pretty close to me.
Welcome to Yesfans!

I love The Cars, too!

You might want to give Joe Jackson, Van Morrison and Elvis Costello a shot too.

Heya Jason.

There's good music being made today; it didn't end with the 70s!

Check out Porcupine Tree, The Flower Kings, Dream Theater, Spiraling, and many other "neo-prog" music.

Yo Jason,

I'm a huge fan of Led Zeppelin and The Beatles as well . . .

Timmo is right, there are great bands making music right now in both the classic prog tradition and in a modern light.

If you're into Yes, though, you might want to check out Genesis, ELP, Kansas, King Crimson, and other 70's "symphonic" progressive bands.

Oddly enough, my old man HATED Yes music. Roundabout was playing loudly in my room one day and he, a lover of Country Music ridiculed my music, saying, "Every song sounds the same!" http://boards.philadelphiaeagles.com/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

Welcome Jason! Funny but I wasn't much younger than you 35 years ago when I started listening to YES. I'm still listening.

I agree with muscla_1 that there are many good bands out there today making progressive music. Outside of progressive though I'm afraid that the well is pretty dry.

By the way ... does anyone know / remember Slade?

Yeah. They were predecessors to the 80's bands, i.e they were playing a style in the early 70s that was copied by numerous "hair bands" in the 80s. Quiet Riot covered at least two of their songs - "Cum on feel the Noize" and "Mama weer all crazy now". I remember an album where all the song titles (or at least a lot) were deliberately misspelled like that. Back then, I remember listening to Slade and Uriah Heep.
