This was the day in 1969 that Yes and The Nice turned up in Cork, Ireland to play only to find that there was no concert due to lack of advertising and preparation of the venue by the promoter. So they retired to the local pub where Keith Emerson put on an impromptu show and they all got rather pi$$ed - all told in great detail in Chris Welch's book.
In 1974, Journey to the Centre of the Earth reached #3 in the Billboard charts.
In 1992, 'Round the World in 80 Dates', concert footage from the Union tour, was shown on Canadian TV
in 2004, the Yes Acoustic DVD was released in Brazil.
Other concerts were played in 1971, 1975, 1976, 1984, 1991, 1998 & 2002.

This is the day in 2006, that the new YES album comes out. It's fantastic, and we write about it till the sun comes up and goes down and up again...
Thank you Brian! Haha!
A great past and an amazing future..

I've made worse predictions.
:ele: ;)
I think Alan may have just started rehearsals for the Close to the Edge tour on this day, too. 1972. He did only have about 10 days until July 30 in Dallas. They only missed 4 gigs!
Let's just say, with July 30 looming, he sure should have been rehearsing!

How the hell did he DO that?
I guess we would too, given the chance to play with YES. Still, I can barely believe that he did that and carried it off.
Just amazing. I was watching some old videos of Alan playing with John Lennon today. A rich tapestry.

During a lead guitar solo at this concert,(Close to the Edge, or Ritual), Steve Howe was inadvertantly hit quite sharply in the head by a flying frisbee tossed by an irreverant fan. His head falling slightly backward, dedicated performer that he is, Steve only recoiled a little and continued to rip out his chops with only a barely perceptable and brief change (was it shock or anger?) in the music. A more egoistic rocker may have stopped the concert at this point, but not Steve. Bravo!!!

Ouch! Bless his heart, that couldn't have felt good. I've seen stuff like that happen at concerts. Fans should really be more careful.

My greatest ticket purchase for Yes was for this show @ the Capital Center in Landover MD story follows like this.
There used to be a lottery at the location for the next day sales at 2:00am so you would not have to wait in line all night, a pulled # 16 I think.
So the next day im in line to get tickets and the way it worked was they would let 8-10 people in the ticket area to get tickets and when some people would come out they would let a few more in that area, they had 4 ticket windows. I some how managed to be at # 13 the next morning. They let the first 10 people in the ticket area and when a few came out the next three people were let in, I was that third person, and as soon as I entered the ticket area a security guy kept repeating YOU CAN GO TO ANY WINDOW AT ANYTIME ONCE YOU ARE IN THIS AREA., So I said “you mean I can walk past these two guys and go to any window I want right now” he said “YES” so I walked right past the two guys in front of me to the now vacant window and the lady in the ticket window had two front row ticket already printed. I said thank you very much and walked right past those two stund Yesfans, and went on to see my first front row Yes concert I loved it!
