It was on this day in 1969 that the first Yes single in the UK - Sweetness - was released. It is estimated that it sold around 500 copies.

Apart from concerts in 1969, 1971, 1975, 1994 and 1998 - not much else happened on this Independence Day holiday.

I saw YES on this day back in 94 with my son who was only 16 years at the time.
It was at Sandstone theatre here in the armpit of Kansas!!!(where I'm still stuck at)!!--lol!!

Was my first show to see Trevor Rabin.---It was very great!!
We had 2 great seats for around 60$ for both.--I got 6 complimentary tickets that day from a friend down the street.---I still have all 6 of those tickets!!---lol!!
Was a pretty good crowd as I remember.---My son felt a little uncomfortable being surrounded by a bunch of "old people".--His third concert!!--He liked ELP!-His first!---He liked Moody Blues better!!---His second!!!--By the time this show was over he loved YES and "old people" too!!!--And STILL does!!!
A day I'll never forget during the history of YES--What a show!!!!

I used to know a guy in Glasgow who had an original copy of Sweetness - must have been about the only one sold!

I still have my original copy even though its soo worn it crackles when played, :D

but to me its a peice of history, it,s priceless, it reminds me where it all began, all those many years ago, setting out on what was to become a dream, a lifetimes voyage of discovery, wonder and passion

Yes opened for Jethro Tull at The Warehouse, New Orleans, Louisiana on July 4, 1971.

Must have been an unbelievable show by both bands!

I grew up in the area, and met people that went to that, and other early YES shows in New Orleans. They were not there to see YES, and knew very little about them. They left fans. I think they played at Old Man Rivers, and I think it's gone now. One other show to mention was at the same place, and they opened for the Allman Brothers (AB). The guy I know that went said nobody really knew them, but when they were done, few people were into the AB gig, said YES blew them away. :headset:

That a great idea Scooty, maybe if I could get enough I could cover it in amber and allow it to set hard, like in Jurasic Park, :D

mind you some scientist would try and recover the DNA from it at some point in the future, :lmao:
