View Full Version : "Live In Philadelphia 1979" DVD in 5.1????
Was browsing through some YES DVDs and saw a reissue of Live In Philadelphia 1979 that claimed to be in 5.1 surround. It's the same video program - about an hour long - but it says 5.1 sound.
I'm very skeptical of this, as the original DVD was in mono. The mono DVD isn't bad, but disappointing as you only get about half the show and the video and audio quality isn't up to par with the other DVD releases.
If anyone has this, please let me know.

I have the 5.1 version of Live in Philadelphia 1979.
Nothing changed except the audio, which is only a little bit better than the original mono audio from the first version - it sounds fuller with more bass.
The way the audio is you would think they misprinted that the concert was from 1979 and that it was really from 1949! :sofunny:
I feel ripped off because I bought the first one that was in mono and now have two copies of the same concert. I wouldn't bother buying the 5.1 version unless you absolutely MUST have the latest version.
That reminds me - I have to E-Bay my original version. ;)

Thanks for the update. I never picked up the mono version, since it was so short and was mono, for the same price as a "regular" concert DVD, but in 5.1 it might almost be worth it. I'd like to see/hear some stuff from this era, and it does sound like it's at least better than the mono.
