I was wondering as I'm listening to Relayer for the 40 somethingth time, what was Alan's setup for this excellent album? Does anyone have any info or pics of it? (any info would be much appreciated!) :rcking:

If you watch the QPR DVD's you get plenty of live-action close-ups of the Relayer tour. He does use the Ludwigs. Along with that are tympanis, cymbal tree, glockenspiel, and maybe a few other things.

QPR Programme? From the concert? I haven't seen it.

There is probably a variance in what he played on the album and what he played on the tour.

Easily, that list could be what was with the band while touring. I can't recall seeing all of those items being played, though.

Great info!

Sorry but I have to post this. Everytime I see this thread topic my brain is thinking "Alan's kilt up for sale?" LOL
Sure glad it's Friday.

Yes this info was from the Programme from the QPR and Stoke City shows in 1975, and yes that was his kit list from the Tour, not just the Relayer album.

I'll have to watch it again and see where Alan is playing a RMI and a Les Paul! That doesn't seem right. Perhaps he strummed an acoustic during Long Distance (acoustic version). It sounds like Jon's equipment is mixed in. What do they list for Jon? I know a lot of that looks the same as what Jon did play.

Jon's kit was
>> Martin Acoustic Guitar, Rickenbacker 12 string, various percussion, pair of Zyldjan cymbals, Gibson ES140 full-bodied guitar.

Yea, if you watch the video you'll see that Jon never played a 12-string. Nor did he play a Gibson ES140. Even Howe doesn't play an ES140 (he probably has one somewhere, though!). Perhaps the Martin is accurate as he does play a 6 string acoustic. Jon did play a Les Paul (I believe it was a Les Paul Studio).

I do like that they go into great detail on Alan's drums. I wish they had delineated his cymbals a bit more, though.

Actually, I should look at my own Relayer Program. I don't remember what is in it.

It probably only listed what they had wiht them on the tour and not necessarily what they used on every show...
