Hi guys,
I'm thinking about getting this. Is it any good? What's the track listing?
Thanks in anticipation of replies.
Yessongs is great, but the audio is old time.

Haven't seen it for years. I first saw it when it was on cinema release in the 70s. Its a great show from the Close to the Edge tour at the Rainbow Theatre London in December 1972. Some Roger Dean cartoon sequences as well.

I played my copy twice - then 5 guys scrawled all over it in pen!!! Steve, Rick, Alan, Chris and Jon something or other!
As Brian says, the quality is very much 'scratchy ol '70's movie' - Mrs Mass got it for me as an import. STEVE ROCKS! He's jumping up and down like a wild man - ahh those were the days!!

Definitely! Go for it! Despite the average sound quality it is one of the best IMO. Yes when they were young and full of energy. Close to the Edge is just superb.

I think the sound is much better on the DVD than it was on VHS. Oh you won't regret buying this one. It's a groove thang!

Where are you getting this from. The only copies I have been able to find ship from the US (so I assume that they are region 1) so they won't play on my region 2 DVD player.
My VHS version crashed and burned many years ago so I would love to be able to get a new copy.
Anyone out there know where I can get this from??

Its non-region specific - why aren't they all coded like that - don't get me started on the free market economic system!!!!!

Try amazon.co.uk
CLICK (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/6305076995/qid=1114113158/sr=8-2/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i2_xgl/202-2395205-7602232)
This IS a must-have. It's raw and it's their first. CTTE is smokin hot. The '70s feel just adds to the vibe.

The problem with amazon.co.uk is that they all come from either the US or Canada. Some say that they are Region 1 the others don't say at all. I just want to find one that actually says Region 0

I have tried that. But for some reason whenever I go to yesworld.com I only ever get a blank page - anyone else had this problem?

Very pleased for you but also very jealous. Hope you got it for the price I saw when I looked yesterday.
Enjoy it - it is a monster
It says Region 0, colour, and PAL. Do they send you something different?

Where does it say this? All I want to do is to find a YesSongs DVD that actually tells me that it is Region 0. That way I know it will work

I see where your looking now. Problem is is that it is out of stock so you can only get it from "More Buying Choices"
This is where I get nervous. Some of these actually tell you that they are Region 1 only. The others don't say at all but as they are all shipped from either US or Canada it makes me think that they are Region 1 also

The region 0 copies that amazon.co.uk sell are out of stock (and have been for at least two years)
Si I have e-mailed one of the distributers who sell YesSongs through Amazon.co.uk asking if they are region 0. Still waiting for an answer. When/if i get a reply I will post it here so that we all know
If you can get past the fact that the video and audio are not up to today's standards (the lighting gives the picture a very dark look and the audio is a little rough, though very listenable), then it's a great document of YES at their live peak.
It would be great if they could find the original unedited film and soundtrack stems and do an expanded "director's cut" version of the film with newly remixed 5.1 DTS surround, but I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

Sigh. I was just thinking about what a great missed opportunity this was and was going to post about it. Good thing I did a search. I'd already posted this nearly four years ago!
The original film is nearly 80 minutes long -- if they could go back and find the original elements, they could restore the entire show or at least as much of it exists.
Of course, the original film may not exist anymore or could be lying in a vault somewhere in England. Tape and film vaults are notorious for not storing reels properly or mislabeling them, so it's doubtful we'll see a deluxe Yessongs release ever again.
But you'd think they'd at least reissue the original on DVD, at any rate.
