I've recently watched a DVD called The Union Tour DVD.
Is this an official release? I haven't seen it mentioned before as an official release but the quality is so good I thought it must be. IMO it's right up there with Symphonic.
If it's not an official release this leads me to think Yes are losing out in a big way and maybe will do again. If the 35th anniversary tour DVD doesn't appear through offficial channels soon, it surely won't be long before it appears through other channels. Wasn't there a 2 hour version of this on a Japanese TV station recently. I'm not an expert on how these things are produced but I bet someone somewhere is working on it.

Stevie there are at least two versions. There is the Official Japanese version at Mountain View Amphitheatre. I have seen parts of this and the qulaity is exceptional. However there is another version from the smae tour but from Denver I think this was recorded for the TV and this is the version that you can see weeded here. So it is a different concert to the official version and hence does not cause any problems as it is not competing with the official version.

Thanks Tony
I think it must have been the official Japanese version at Mountain View. Japanese subtitles appeared on screen when Jon was talking between songs. Do Yes own the rights to this then. If so I cannot understand why it hasn't been released officially worldwide. I've only seen it the once but as you say it is exceptional.

I'm not sure on the technicalities of this Steve..but it was originally shown on Japanese TV, so I imagine they must have got some royalties out of it. Unfortunately because of it's costs and initially difficulty in availabilty there were a lot of pirate copies made I think from like Hong Kong and Korea..you have to be careful because there are plenty of these on E bay at a reasonable price, but you can't be sure whether it is a copy or the original.

The story I heard was that Trevor wanted a record of that Mountainview show and arranged for the show to be filmed. It then 'leaked' which is where the Jap's got a hold of it. - Can't vouch for the certainty in that, though.
The Mountainview show is of superb quality, even though not being the whole concert.
It's a brilliant record of the Union Tour. Each time I see it, I feel more sad that they toured Japan with that line-up, but didn't come down to Australia.
Talking to Rick Wakeman just recently, he said that he was personally disapointed that they didn't, as well. Yea, but not as much as me!
