Faith abounds the world around
Surrounded by the sights and sounds
Of daily cruelties

In reality and the senses aware
The questions are asked not yet of me
For my tv protects me from scenes that might be
An agitation of the world I be

How do I know of genocide when
Irish Spring is now in a new scent
And the new line of Buicks are out
There was a tsunami? Was enough aid sent?

When tragedy
Erupts,
Explodes,
Shoots,
Bombs,
And spills,
Maims,
Steals,
Beats,
Screams,
And kills

It's okay by me and my mind island. . .

Because I'm under the illusion that I am free.
The home just won, four to three
and
Tide cleans my clothes without residue
Will the charges we make ever come due?

The rubber band break of the tensions that toil
Make it so clear that we are all so spoiled
And gratitude's gift is blue light spring sales
Where trivial worries cause pop culture fails

The answer is lost if the question's not asked
And that doesn't seem to be the newscaster's task.

Tom, I absolutely LOVE this!

Very original, and dripping with biting sarcasm - which I like. ;)
